Good experiences or bad? Need one for newly purchased 5D3 but not happy about lashing out the very high cost!

Bought a third party one for my D5200. Not had any serious problems with it. Did a lot of research to hind one which i strongly recommend. You Tube pointed me in the right direction and then checked up on techradar.

I currently have an OEM Nikon on my D750 (bought second hand in new condition) and a Meike on a d7200. There is a noticeable difference between the two but whether you would notice it without having used the two I'm not so sure. The quality on the Nikon is better, the feel of the materials, construction and the security of the screw fixing is better. For the price the Meike is good. I've had to repair the battery tray on the Meike as the spring pinged out of position. It was easy to solve by undoing 3 screws and locating it again. For the outlay the Meike is very good value, the Nikon OEM is very good quality if you are happy paying the extra. The cost of the OEM grips new does seem to be excessive for what they are, if you can find a second hand one they are better value.

I've had 3 third party grips for my 2 D7000's.i had to replace one as it just stopped working one day. Not unexpected as they only const about £30 each. Much more reasonable than the manufacturers grip costs.

I'm looking to buy one for my Fuji X-T1 at the moment and no doubt it'll be a Meike.

have you had any problems with the Meike grip, I have heard the some do not have the full functions of the OEM version, in fact some of the Nikon grips for the 7100 do not work properly on the 7200, which I find rather strange.

Other than the spring on the battery tray battery release I've not had any problems. I've not noticed any problems but I haven't really used it with the grip much as its a backup/remote camera.

I've got a meike for my 5dmk3 and previously had one for my 6d and 60d before that.

I'd definitely recommend it

Arrived today from Meike via Amazon. Very impressed at first sight! Nice grippy finish and all the buttons and display works.
