Hi all what do you think of this lens Canon EF 70-300 mm F/4-5.6 EF IS L USM Lens any good or not I see their are a few on ebay what do you think any advice would be helpful

I have no expeience of this lens, but naming the lens in the thread title generally gets more views and responses. Threads that need you to open it to discover what the secret squirrel topic of the day is generally get ignored. You should be able to edit the thread title by editing your opening post..
 
very nice looking lens.. wouldnt mind one of those myself certainly a very big step up from my 70-300 siggy

What do you shoot? It is a great lens, but if it is not suitable for your work it could be a different story.
 
I have this lens and I love it.
Super sharp, well worth the money.
 
I also have this lens having previously started off with the 55-250 and then moving on to the 70-300 IS (both of which I enjoyed using). I've had my 70-300L for over 2 years now; my copy is very sharp and contrasty and (as good as my previous lenses were), in my opinion it just takes things to "another level". If the cost can be justified, then I'd highly recommend it but as mentioned above, decide what you want it for before buying.
 
Can you use Extendes with this lens some say you can and some say you can not
 
I use the Kenko 1.4x Teleplus Pro 300 DGX and it autofocuses @F8 on my 5D3
Not sure that it works with all cameras though so maybe google it for yours.

I don't shoot sport but a lot of wildlife, which is what I use the 70-300 for. I also have a Sigma 150-500 for extra reach but the 70-300 is in a different league and I only use the Sigma if I really have to.

You can't use it with Canon extenders but I did try it with a Kenko 1.4x on a 7D and it focussed ok except when the lens was fully extended when it did hunt quite a bit.
