I want to do some more portrait shots with my 400D. I have two sigma lenses the 17-70mm and the 70-300mm APO. (in my sig)

Should I get the 50mm?
Will it be much of an improvment on the sigma lens that i have.

Im also worried that the AF is very slow and I will have problems, is this true?

Thanks in advance.

DOF at 85mm F4 is shorter than 50mm F1.8.... so I'd be inclined not to bother, just stand futher back and use you 70-300

Richard, I would say you will see a 'big' improvement, in sharpness, with the 50mm. Also, you have a bigger aperture to play with for creative shot's.

Don't worry about the auto-focus speed because it's not slow at all. It's a little noisey (not usm) but definatley not slow.

You can't go wrong anyway as they are so little money for the quality.

Try one
