Wonder if anyone has done it before and can throw some light? Any thoughts about Subway Franchise? Good? Bad? Ugly?

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt - the one I had for 6 years was Expense Reduction Analysts - happy to share the experience and provide a few general franchise related tips if you like but no experience specifically related to Subway (other than the occassional sub of the day ).

I work for one at the moment (a franchise store, not a Subway!), and, it requires quite an investment for a start-up, it's more getting the stock into the store and being placed in the right town at the right time at the right place. Easier said than done but not as hard as you may think it to be after reading that short bit!

Subway seems to do well, smaller stores especially - getting it into the town but not too central.. just get it close to where people work that are likely to go there during/after work, and near a popular bus-stop will definitely help.

Working for a bank come across some sub franchises. if run well they can make a big pile of cash. However, need a good lump of cash to get going and you have to be able to train and keep good staff.

After the recent story about the oxygen thief Subway employee caught sticking lettuce up his nose etc, then putting it in people's sarnie, I'd say haggle hard!

I looked into a subway franchise. Always rated very highly in the top franchise awards. I applied to them and the minimum investment is £100k.

A good sign is that most new subways that open are by existing franchisees, so they must presumably be doing quite well.

Personally, I find their food disgusting, but that's a different point.

My brother has a snap-on franchise. Apparently they always do very well in the comparison/rating things.

He's happy and earning plenty. Imortantly they give lots of support and assistance.
