hey guys just thinking of buying a macro lens for my canon 60d i dont really want to spend to much but i do have the money to get better quality i love doing macro so dont want to waste my money of anything to cheap. any ideas would be great thanks.

Tamron 90mm

Tokina 100mm

Sigma 105mm

You really can't go wrong with any of those.

You don't want to spend too much, yet don't want anything cheap? :D

What's your budget?

What about something like a Tamron 60mm ?

Great price for an f/2 macro. It would double as a very nice portrait lens too.

Good point about budget - I should have asked.

Would also help if we knew what you intend to use it for. If for insects, I would hesitate to recommend anything under 90mm. If for stationary subjects, then Cagey's suggestion is good.

I've had 60, 105 and now a 150mm macro. There definitely is an advantage to the longer focal length offerings, if bugs are your thing. But you'd be surpised how close you can get using a 60, with practice. A 90mm probably would be more ideal though, as an all-rounder. Tamron have a newer version of their 90mm too, there is also the newer version of the Sigma 105mm - which I also think is a great price.

You get OS/VC with those 2 to boot.

sorry i dont have a budget im open to suggestions but like most people im always after a bargain. it would be for flowers, bugs and things like that really.

Is there a good, used sales site in your region?

You could also check the classified section on here, I've bought through there a few times too. I think you need to have a certain amount of posts first though.

The first few macro lenses I bought were used, and were in great nick, for a great price. I got a Nikon 60mm 2.8 for €250 - which is about £200.
