Yeah it will be fine if you can get close enough ! Saw and had a play with the 18-200 Canon lens today, what a little stunner, may be worth a thought ?
i'm not familiar with canon lens,but it might be worth considering a 70-200 F/2.8.at least you could always get a 1.4X tele converter to give you extra reach,should you need it.obviously,this would cost a bit more than the 70-200 F/4,but a worthy contender in my opinion

I borrowed my Dad's 70-200f4L for my last motorsports shoot, luckily it was a bright day. I've used the 70-200f2.8 previously and the extra stop was useful for evening races and overcast days.
From having used both I've decided to drop my money on the f2.8, rather than the f4 and a spare body.
