Do any of you use the think tank retrospective 30 as a Wedding bag to hold all your gear?

For my main kit, I use a 5D3, 24-70, 50 and a 70-200, couple of flashguns, and was thinking of using this as my main bag.

Whats it like to carry around all day?

Would the 30 not be very big?
Iv ordered a 20 and I think it's bit big, but got it for a good price

I was looking at the 7, but it cost more that the 20 and not many places in the uk have them

Well I haven't got it yet, should be here today in the post, il post up what I can get in it

I have a 20 and have it configured to take either a gripped 7D or a 1D MkIII with say a 24-105L attached in the centre, lens pointing down. Then to the left (looking down as if carrying bag) I can fit a 70-200 2.8L IS II, and to the right any from 17-40L, Sigma 10-20 or 17-50 2.8 OS, 580 EXII. With any of the lenses to the right I can fit either a 1.4x or 2x Canon MkII TC. Of course the two TCs will fit in together on the right also. I never carry the bag loaded like this, but I've tried the different combos to see just what I could get in if using for a trip using a car. As an everyday walkabout bag the 20 excels with a body with lens attached, extra lens and flash. Another benefit is that my Gitzo 1542T fits nicely under the large flap which still fastens securely thanks to the excellent velcro. The internal pockets will take all the spare batteries and cards you need, lens cloth/pen etc. The zipped rear pocket is secure and handy for wallet, phone, documents etc. The large front pocket will take a body without lens, but unpadded so beware! The wide strap and shoulder pad make this bag very comfortable to wear. Here's a quick pic with the Gitzo packed, with a Redsnapper for comparison.

So you can just get a bit in them then lol
Can't wait for it to come, I'm using it for a wedding in a few weeks
Not looking forward to it

came in the post today, the 20 is plenty big loads of space in it

First thing I did was put her in silent
Yea she feels so nice on the shoulder

I have a confession to make. Mine's a 10 not a 20! :cuckoo: :exit: So you can get even more in than I can!

The bag I carry at weddings won't fit my cameras in, I had a bag that could fit all my gear in and it was too big so I was forever looking for safe places to leave it.

now I have 2cameras on a Dual strap and a small bag (lowepro classified 160) with the remaining 3 lenses, spare flash, batteries and cards. This is quite small so it goes everywhere with me.

The cameras come off to go straight into a bag in the car, that I don't need to take anywhere else.

Makes more sense to me than carrying around a bag capable of carrying all the gear.

That makes sense.

I've got the 20 and it's the best camera bag I've had and I've spent a fortune on bloody camera bags!!! Don't think I would want it fully loaded at a wedding though.

You don't want to be weighed down
Il have spare batteries cards and lenses just

I had a massive crumpler that held all that gear and a laptop, absolutely brilliant, until you considered carrying it.:gag:

I used it once!

The retrospecive bags are heavy and when loaded are realy uncomfortable to carry, Although it is a very strong bag.

I've used the 30 for a few weddings, great bag, very comfy to carry, and has loads of space for everything I need. (Camera gear & Supplies for me etc) Padding etc hasn't been an issue, and the Velcro silencers are very useful.

Saying that, I don't use battery grips and I don't use a 70-200mm. So I think it may be a tight squeeze if you like to carry a lot of gear.

I'm only a small chap, and carrying a lot of stuff gets me tired and grumpy when I should be taking pictures, so I would never even consider a bag bigger than the Retro 30. Thats just too much stuff!

I have the 20 and absolutely love it. Designed to take a body with 70-200 attached (which I no longer have) it's such a great size for a walk around bag IMO. Holds loads of stuff, has loads of features and looks very cool.

This is what I do. The camera bag stays in the car with all the extras and I try to travel light when actually shooting.

I currently am using a large 'waist bag' from a walking shop that has several zipped pockets, mesh pockets, space for a water bottle etc, and I carry this round my waist when shooting with flash, diffuser, drink, tissues, headache tablets, sweets, memory cards, batteries, spare lens, grey card, triggers, purse etc - these are all the sort of things I might need when shooting, and I can get at them without having to set anything down and its not over my shoulder so doesn't get the way of camera straps.

I might try other options but at the moment this system works for me.

The 20 will be a bit of a tight fit go for the 30,it's better to have a bit more to play with than everything crammed in :)
