Hi, does anyone have one of these covers for their long primes?

They do look impressive IMHO but before forking out, to cover my 300 2.8 just thought I'd ask whether they perform just as well in the elements...

Opinions very welcome and appreciated from those who've used them.

Thanks :)

yes i use one of these, on a 600, 400, 300. a breeze to put on and keeps the water out.
Have you looked at the aquatech range of covers, just for a 300 the hydraphobia is massive and the aquatech make various sizes to fit the lens better.

Check out wildlife watching supplies, they do individual covers to fit different lenses, the one I got for the 70-200mm even covers the 1D Mkii camera as well, great investment for those day's I got stuck on the hills in the rain or at brandshatch for the historic racing last year, I got wet, camera and lens stay dry.

Thanks for the feedback :). Are you pleased with how well they're made?

To be honest, I'm torn between getting an aquatech/wildlife watching supplies cover or future proofing myself in case I get a longer prime. I'm 50/50 about it at the moment..

Thanks Peter :)

I have a wildlife watching supplies cover (C80) for the 300mm 2.8 (all in one) in camo colour.

Pleased with it, except that where the LCD is, it doesn't really provide any protection, so if I can buy one which'll cover several lens, then I'm saving money in the long run :)

Yes very pleased. I Watched all the think tank videos for it and decided it was just what i needed.

If your ever over my way your more than welcome to check it out.

Thanks for the offer mate! Crikes, haven't been to Sheffield since I was 15, when I went to Hillsborough to see Southend United take on Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup

I just need to decide on whether it's better than the WWS C80 for the 300 2.8, if so, is it worth the £95 plus extra for the eyepiece, but if I do get a bigger prime then it'll be superb value for money.

Mmmmm....decisions decisions :thinking::thinking::thinking:

At a local twitch photographing waxwings I met another photographer who had an ingenious solution. He'd gone halves with a mate of his on buying a pair of waterproof trousers. They then cut them in half at the top. The ankle end went over the front of the lens, and the top bit of the trousers was left over the camera, which was easily lifted up when needed. He simply cut a hole for the tripod mount.

I have to say I was very impressed with it, far better than my proper cover on my 500mm lens.

Dave, that is exactly what I did for my siggy 300-800, Mrs Frac even sewed a loop into the top part and fit an elasticated toggle thingy.....Works a treat.

Edit......ex army camouflage gortex ones, cheap as chips at the right places.
