Remember kids, when you type a comment on Facebook that comment is also emailed to those who get the notification of update.

Long story short I posted on our Facebook fan page this morning about attending an event over the next 3 days. When I got home this evening there was a notification someone had commented but it had been deleted. I checked my emails and the Facebook alert greeted me complete with message.

Now, I think the person in question is from here, and I wont name names.. But for that persons info it's best not to talk about another photographer behind their back on their own Facebook page...

:p

(incidentally i dont care about the comment (despite it being inaccurate by the way) i actually LOL'd for quite a while about it and thought it would be funny to share)

I thought you were gonna say it was from your Manager.

Thats my greatest fear

I will get caught one day

I'm only 17 ( so still at school ) and someone decided to bitch about a teacher on facebook. Next day, they get called into the head's office.... lol

I've never got into the social networking thing as it seems to cause more trouble than good. personally I try to keep as little about my private life on the internet as possible. For me social networking is done down the pub.

As above, I do have a facebook page as the wife basically insisted I have one and it is a wonderful tool for being able to quickly share something with members of your family. Apart from that though I think it just causes trouble and hardly ever post on it. If I'm going to bitch or moan about something with someone I call them. :D

Wern't me as I am not on facebook-twitter or any other similar medium and have no wish to sign up to them either.

to clarify this was on the facebook "fan" page of our photography business which we use to spread the word about events/gallerys going on line/deals etc

Yup, my employer also has one, but I don't understand that either. Mostly full of boring stuff and infrequently updated. We have a fully updated website that has the same information, better presented.

I guess you have to use whatever media you think your clients/fan base will use. For most 12-40 year olds Facebook will be a prime medium.

A sign of the times. I'm not a big FB fan either.

I had an account but decided to delete it as I prefer to keep some form of privacy.

I switched off my email notifications, maybe I should switch them back on :D

Facebook's a tool, you can be as private or as public as you like but people do need to remember themselves when they are commenting in public groups

Agreed.
