im going down with the mrs on the 30th and im looking from some local knowlage from you guys as to what i should be looking for and to take pics of we will be driving so getting around will be no probs thanks in advance

I would suggest the science museam and right next to it is the beetham tower a skyscraper and there is a bar in there called (I think called cloud 23) anyway its right up in the sky (drinks pricey but I know you have bags of money in scotland) and from that bar you can see all over Manchester and the Cheshire and Manchester to Merseyside plain. If the weather is right you will get some stunning shots through the glass unless you are very brave indeed. The science museam is a fascinating place with historical machibery from the industrial revolution and mock up of victorian manchester plus an aircraft museam within too.

Otherwise head to Victoria station and see a proper City 30 miles away where you will see even better photo opportunities. Albert Dock / Liver Building / Better Cathedrals

I am now running for cover :)

Clicky ;)

Aside that, what are your interests? :)

good link...

if you dont know the geography you will still find its a small city in comparison to glasgow...hmm...about the same
the whole of deansgate..main drag..is similar to sauchiehall street with parallel streets of interest...shops and interesting buildings

one item i forgot to mention is the wheel at the cathedral...a smaller version of the london eye....and of course china town near the town hall

cheers

Why not go to the lowry / salford quays were you can do some shopping, eat, go to impeial war museum, look at lowry's paintings:

Also right there you are next to Old Trafford so you could take pics of the ground along with the Lowry stuff.

you can then take a tram back to civilisation..picadilly

Quite funky aren't they... I think they look out of place in Manchester though, they're more 'continental'

i think there are only a few...i do like the idea of new rolling stock...but you still cant take your push bike on them...or any for that matter as i read today

havent been on a new one yet...may have to take a chance and visit bury...

As far as I know there is only one out in service out the moment, and they have another 3-4 doing running tests... this info is a few weeks old so might have changed now! Got a right shock when I first saw it coming round the corner near Primark.. I knew they were due but still taken aback!

Just followed one home along Eccles New Road :)
