Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium is good and indoors! You can spend all day in there easily.

Paignton Zoo is good but much of the exhibits are external, it is also almost winter so many of the species that prefer a warmer climate will be snugged up in their cages/houses. Good place to go in the spring/summer though.

Thank for the suggestion Ed

sounds like i might have to give the zoo a miss!

any more for any more? come on i need ideas people :bonk:

What about driving an hour through Devon into Cornwall (watch out for the locals sitting on walls plucking their banjos though) and visit the Eden Project, takes about 45 minutes to get there from Plymouth (30ish miles or so). Spectacular photo opportunities.

Also in Plymouth is the Plymouth Dome on the Hoe (about 10 minutes walk) across the Barbican and up the hill from the Marine Aquarium. Never visited that myself though!

You could try Dartington Cider Press up the road in Totnes, from what I remember it's indoors with shops/food/cider/crafty trinket stuff :)

Common sense man!!!! Stay indoors ;) :naughty:

I am meant to be young and innocent as well

Last time I went to Paignton Zoo it was full of bored monkeys masturbating furiously to relieve the tedium.

What part of Devon?

I had a few of those in the 80s before I got married (to the same nurse).

Living coasts sounds interesting. is it indoors? website wont load but im having probswith my laptop. what can i expect to see there?

thanks for all the suggestions guys

By the way, I work in Derriford Hospital

Jump in the puddles. Only if suitably attired with wellies - wouldn't want to get wet now :p. Plymouth Arts Centre (near Barbican and National Marine Aquarium) show good films in the evening.

Whatever you do have a great time!!

Does Derriford deserve it's reputation????

Well I lived in Plymouth for a while, and Derriford was teaming with loads of fit nurses from the Hospital.

Good rep IMHO

Devon in the wet? Stay in and drink!

Paignton Zoo is well worth a visit but not if it's wet. Living Coast is mainly outdoors too so not really a wet day option. Plymouth Aquarium is well worth a visit - 3 hours should see you through it, even if you read all the boards. (After visiting there, cross the little bridge and head for Cap'n Jasper's for lunch!!!) There are shopping centres in Plymouth and Exeter. Not sure about photo shops in Plymouth but there are 3 in central Exeter - Jezzups, London Camera Exchange and the Devon Camera Centre. The last 2 have some 2nd hand stuff as well as a reasonable selection of new.
The main (Royal Albert) Museum in Exeter is closed for renovation at the moment (and will be until 2010 IIRC) but they do have a sattelite site at St Nicholas' Priory, just off Fore St (turn right at the Mint pub), which may be of interest.
Bring wellies, wark clothes and a dry change and head up onto the moor. IMO, Dartmoor is at its best without too many tourists about. More space on the rocks and fewer red jackets in the views.

Rainy devon: Don't foget this!

Not sure how far it is, but there's a very interesting Cyder farm in Cornwall...or at least what I remember of it was interesting...

Just a quick note to thank everyone for theyre suggestions.
Due to a change in circumstance im going to be in Bournemouth on Sunday now! luckily i know the area very well.
rest assured your suggestions havent gone to waste as i will be spending quite a bit of time in Devon in the near future so will try my best to visit all the suggestions.

Thanks Again

Alex
