...Gentian of Voilet. If you had a sore in your mouth, Mum used to plaster the stuff over the mouth and lips. :gag:. We were the first to have a fridge in our street. Dad bought one cheap when you were pulling down the old pre-fab houses. It was half size and had a rounded front and a chrome handle like an old fashioned car door handle.

Don't be so sure, I saw a young schoolboy the other day fully kitted out with short trousers and catapult (may have been shop bought of course). I almost crashed the car because of the double-take.

lol, there used be one where I lived too :lol: oh, and a skipping rope tangled in the phone wires! That's something else you don't see much of now - telephone wires! I remember when we got our first telephone - it was white dial one. Such a novelty!
 
1 - hard shiny toilet paper in boxes - izal if memory serves me right,awful stuff.

2 - rabbits kept in garden by dad, for sunday dinner.

3 - vegtables grown in garden by dad , for sunday dinner.

4 - rabbits
shaking in fear at sight of dad digging up no2

5 - the monthly trip to the butchers ,to see what a joint of beef looks like.

I remember those, and the hours of fun we had making every jump, got to be one of the best ever comic freebies ever.

Another; how about re-fill nib pens, especially the ones passed down from granddad, those with the leaver on the side to slurp up ink ...thought it was a classy pen at the time . had no idea of the mess it made of ... well, everything. :lol:

I'd like to say it, but I can only find one of my elder brother wearing one.
I'm wearing (on the right) an outfit from the local bargain shop I reckon ....nice mittens though. :lol:

Now that's a proper go cart :clap::thumbs: My brother had one just like that - he was going down the hill when the string steering snapped :eek: no brakes just his knees :lol:

oh and who remembers those little metal things that you stuck on the heels of your shoes to stop them wearing down - Blakeneys or something ??? then you'd pretend you could tap dance!!!!:lol::lol:

I remember those go-carts ... there was a tarmac'd gulley at the back of our house with a big hill at one end, we used to race down like bats out of hell ... well until we threw a wheel!

I also remember there used to be a hell of a lot more fly-tipping in those days, at least there was along the (cut) canal that my house backed onto.
I can remember zipping down the bonk (bank) in an upturned rear car seat, straight over a broken bottle, 3" gash the length of my butt ... ahhh! those were the days, eh! :D

Oh yus, I remember those colour test films, I used to work shifts and they would be the only things on when I came home, I loved the” Paint by the acre” one and one about the road trains in Australia, don’t remember its title though. Any of you out there remember Hank and Mexican Pete the bad bandit, and Master Spy, and what about the Range Rider and his intrepid friend Dick West.
 
Cheesy public announcement films, always remember those as a kid in the late 70`s.
 
Ooooh, ooh yeah!!! who remembers jars of meat spread, maybe shiphams, that had pictures on the lids, and a little plastic clip so you could use them as badges.

What about the large bottle of homemade ginger beer, that nans always had brewing in the larder, that was like drinking liquid vindaloo.

Or,,, those little yellow sirens that you stuck on your pushbike, with microphones on them.

Oooh yes - I remember those! Also Germolene flavour bubble gum (mmmm) and Hubba Bubba. Sweet cigarettes and something that resembled loose tobacco but I can't remember what it was called. 10p used to go a long way then :lol:

My ref was when they were skipping etc so as not to get tied up in their skirts. I'll shut up now, before....... oh dear.
 
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, But fuse bars. They were the food of the gods, and they no longer exist!

basically a bag of chocolatey type powder with lumps. Lick yer finger, and dip it in the bag.

Got some last year and oh is it lush :D (But very messy to eat)

Indeed, it was absolutely brilliant.

It was when I used to go to Karate 5 times a week, and on the way home from training I would get a can of Tab Clear....Yummy stuff.
