These young girls travelling to Syria

No one knows what's behind the thinking of those parents except themselves.

Ban all Religion. even pagan ones... Bloody druids.
People who need it because their life is crap or something bad has happened to them can do it in private.... Believe in the here and now and put faith in science. I'm just p***ed that I wont young enough to enjoy having a base on the moon and on Mars.

Religion has caused more wars and hate to fellow man than anything else over history... Time Mankind grew up and joined together in moving forward... Look to the future.

Did I mention I invented cheese?

all hail daryl the inventor of chese, we must fall down and worship him for his cheese is bountiful

there can only be one true inventor of cheese, those other heretics will be burnt at the stake for thinking thier quark is the one true cheese

The inventor of cheese was a Dutch guy. No way the rubbish in the UK should be called cheese

yeah he was called adam, but spelt it with an 'e' (and he was swiss i think not dutch)

Good article in the guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/commenti...jihadi-devil-women-theyre-vulnerable-children

Spitting in a full-frothed outrage over both their audacity and their stupidity doesn’t make the problem go away, in the same way that trying to understand it doesn’t make you an apologist for Isis. Would there be this level of contempt for a victim of sexual grooming? What would the coverage look like if three middle-class schoolgirls upped and left to fight on the frontline of Golden Dawn? It’s worth asking, because the argument that we reject these girls and refuse them help is as dumb as the mistake they’ve clearly made.

I'm not sure I'd call it a 'good' article. I would call it a predictable one, and one that will no doubt be repeated when/if they see the light and hightail it home.
The substance of what Ms Iqbal is saying though is what will prevent these 3 being charged, even if there does come a time when there's some evidence against them (unlike now!).

A predictable handwringing and apologist article from The Guardian trying to turn these girls into poor victims who were so turned on by a bearded brute burning someone alive they just had to leave their life and family here and go and marry one.

They are no loss to the country at all and hopefully they never come back.

I'm not normally so generous and are a very strong supporter of personal responsibility. However, regardless of what they get themselves involved in, these are still only 15 year old girls. They are still children.

I think as a society we should try and get them back and provide the support to them and their families.

If my 15 year old daughter goes missing, yes she knows the code to our safe where the passports are, and has money in the bank to pay for a ticket, I would hope the authority and fellow countrymen support me getting her back.

At 15 I thought I knew it all, I know now that I didn't even begin to realise what I didn't know. They are children, let's support their safe return.

Typical liberal pish. Everyone’s fault but there's. It’s what’s wrong nowadays, nobody takes responsibility anymore, always looking for excuses and blaming others for your mistakes. (not just these but society as a whole) About time people took responsibility for their f**k-ups and accepted the consequences and learn from it. If you just keep making excuses for them and there is no punishment for their actions they will never learn.

Out of interest, which bit of this do you see as "typical liberal pish," and why?

I tend to agree after all their only children,i and cant help thinking that if some 15 year old came on theses OOF thread and started telling some member that they knew everything, they soon been shouted down as kid who no nothing

It's the grooming aspect I don't like, off to meet a sexual predator and people would be on here demanding harsh punishment, yet because it's Muslim girls, religion, then it's different.

(Internet) Grooming takes many forms. Just have some imagination about very clever maths/sciences students with drop dead gorgeous girls around them....International crime targets anyone that could be of benefit to them, and it is big big business.

The problem is assuming there was some form of grooming. It doesn't necessarily follow there was. Who knows, they may have decided on their own, in their own gang of three that ISIL's version of Islam is 'right' and everyone else is wrong. My daughter has for the last 3 years thought that Lenin was right, and won't have any other opinion on the matter (or look at history!). Granted she isn't about to leap on a plane for Moscow, but it's the same principle, teenagers rebel against the status quo, and some of them do daft things they later regret. But everyone is to hell bent in this case to assume that there must be 'grooming'. Just as people are hell bent on assuming these 3 will end up with interesting fashion accessories, like AK47's and exploding bras.

The blame here is being pushed about to everyone, except them and their parents, where in reality if there is any fault it actually lays.

15yo in this day and age is old enough to make a decision. They are above the age of criminal responsibility.

I doubt they are intent on coming back avd joining an organisation (if that is what they are doing) involved in murder and is known to is reprehensible. A 15yo is old enough. It's not like they're 5

IIRC the parents are blaming the Police, Airlines, Turkish authorities, MI5/6, GCHQ for not knowing what their daughters were doing.
What were the parents doing?

Exactly ............. the Hitler Youth were "only children", as some would describe them, and yet they fired weapons and killed allied troops. They are enemies.

In this modern age of teen "independence" ie mobiles, social media etc there is only so much they can do.

Who remembers being 15, going out smoking, drinking, your mates older brother taking for you a jolly in his shed of a car, watching smut on the web.

How much can the parents do, it looks like the parents are decent normal hard working people and no reason to assume otherwise.

Kids turned bad - it happens.

I don't totally agree with this, because I remember the uproar when James Bulger was abducted and murdered, by two lads aged 10-11. Some people were saying the the death sentence should be brought back (which I did not agree with), others that they should serve life in prison (which I could certainly see the point of).

For me, these girls who have gone to Syria to join possible the most barbaric movement of recent times, is beyond excuse, particularly as the girls have been described as highly intelligent and "straight A students" in various media articles.
They are not children at all, they are fully aware of what they are doing, and if they go there, they will be an accesory to murder.

Well, I suppose it had to happen eventually.

looking at how the little s***s concerned turned out (didnt one get nicked for child porn offences after they were released) a good shooting in the head could have solved everyone concerned a lot of bother.

What will happen in 9 months time?
Will they come rushing home apologising for the error of their ways? Oh, and while I'm here, could you please deliver my baby, then I'll want child allowance, and every benefit known to man. Don't forget I have a husband and he must be allowed into the country under European rules about the right to family life.
Think it won't happen? Don't be too sure once the civil lib brigade get involved.

I used to read the Guardian but have not been able to comment there, because the day BEFORE the Charlie Hebdo murders in Paris, I made some comments about radical Islam at the end of an article about Muslims in Britain. I wasn't swearing or being inflammatory in the least, but the moderators obviously looked upon my comments differently and from now on I have to be moderated.
This article for me clearly shows a journalist being apologetic for the actions of these girls, something which I just cannot accept. Fortunately mmany people commenting share my views, and this one sums it up perfectly.

"If after seeing beheading videos these girls were not appalled and chose to travel to marry these murderers: then they are NOT vulnerable.

Stop kidding yourself, and stop lying to non-muslims please."

This was one part of the article which really wound me up

Like all predatory internet groomers, Raqqa’s warriors wield a sexual power; anyone who has seen their social media feeds will understand that Isis lads brand themselves as rock stars. Marrying one is a religiously approved way to channel the mad, hormonal energy that powers all teenagers – Muslim girls included.

Rock stars? Really? What they are doing is a bit different to trashing hotel rooms and driving cars into swimming pools.

tbh i doubt isis will let them go - once they've been 'married ' they are basically the property of the husband to do with as he likes,

Yes at the end of the day it is personal responsibility. Lets just see what happens. This incident is probably being watched just as much by the Muslim community as much as the average family.

What about child soldiers you see in civil wars in African countries? Gun yielding maniacs/murders don't just become murderers because they are 18 or over.

Sypathisers with murders are bad, and 15yo is easily old enough to know right and wrong. These girls have had a good start in life, good families, good education, whats the matter with them?

does that mean its your fault that your daughter thinks lenin was right ? ;) Mind you strictly speaking she's probably correct given the historical context he was opperating in, its a shame that stalin perverted his dream

Yes I do think this will happen and don't get me wrong it shouldn't be allowed.

What we mustn't forget is that teenagers aren't human, they a big little aliens with very smart but mostly dis functional brains.

Yes logically I agree they think they know what they are getting themselves involved in, however they can't even begin to imagine what the reality may be. I'd be devastated if my child got written off like many on here seem to do.
