I've seen a lot about these cards lately and figured I may buy one as an XMas pressie for my sister who has a D300S.

Has anyone used the new Trancend ones in a D300S? http://uk.transcend-info.com/products/CatList.asp?FldNo=24&LangNo=1&Func1No=0&Func2No=203 The D300S isn't listed as compatible, although it is listed as compatible on the other wi-fi sd card website, Eye-Fi. Unfortunately the Eye-Fi cards are smaller capacity, more expensive and I can't seem to find a seller of the X2 pro ones.

Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks.

EDIT: Ignore me ... blonde moment :)

Oops, I'm sure it uses a SDCard as well as a CF Card? I'll have to double check now. it's mainly for her to use to see pics on iPad when she's out and about.

Why not buy an iPad SD card (or USB) connector?

I think you need to be on a network to share photos with the wifi enabled cards - I.e point-to-point between card and iPad is not possible. "out and about" implies she won't always be in range of a wifi network....

there is an app for it to work, but i believe it only works with eye-fi cards

I like the iPad connector option, I'll look into that too. Thanks.

From Transcends website....

Direct Share mode activates the Wi-Fi SD card’s own dedicated wireless signal to create peer-to-peer connections between the Wi-Fi SD card and your mobile device.

Guess I am out of date. Haven't looked at them in a year or so, and things have moved on!

i woudlnt get too hung up on the size of it, all youre doing is sending previews to whatever device is reading it.

Ive got an eyefi card for mine, the cf card takes the raw images and the eye fi card takes a small jpeg. This keeps the transmit times down and my tablet doesnt have the res for a full sized image anyway, so i just brought the smallest capacity card i could to save on costs. Works a treat :)
