Over the years I have recommended Talk Photography, as a good source of information to people I meet. When I get chatting to someone taking photos, I often say do you use the Talk Photography web site, I don't say this to everyone with a Camera, but people who start chatting to me, and come across as very keen and wanting to learn more. I give them the web address and my username, and they say great and that they will check it out, and give me a shout. Well nobody ever has, either they have signed up and not bothered to look me up.

Another thought occurred to me, maybe they are already a member on here and thought me a boring git and deny they know or use this forum o_O

With that last sentence you are asking for a whole heap of abuse:D:D

Bumped into Lez McLean early one morning on Ilkley moor about 8 years ago and he told me about this place. Well obviously I signed up but I never said hello to Les. So just in case he's had sleepless nights over it.......Hi Les

Must resist, must resist :D

I know what you mean though @jonbeeza
I've had the same (non) reaction too.
For what ever reason ;)

I've recommended this forum to a lot of people, though not for a while if I'm honest, well I've not been out for a while have I

That said Ive had some curious experiences while being a member of this great forum...

Such as the time I stopped off at Corley services on the M6 to do some quick light trails only have a guy pull up and ask "are you Matt from TP" while at it turns out I'd offered some help with his light trails the night before and he thought he would try Corley that night, pleased to say Steve the has become a friend over the last couple of years..ironically Steve was also one of the emergency crew to respond to my little car crash last year...

I really do love how great this place is, even if it some times looses its community spirit :(

I recall I had arranged with another member to meet up, and this was to compare Cameras or something, I think we both had the same Camera, and we were thinking of upgrading to something else, can't quite recall now. But anyway we arranged to meet up with our Cameras, I was there but the other member failed to show. Never even bothered to get back in touch with me. Maybe he spotted me from a distance and stuffed the Camera up his jumper, and walked right past me. Probably because I had the Frank Spencer look, even though I probably have more of a Mr Bean demeanour about me.

The above is obviously just a joke, I am not anywhere near as funny as the Characters above ;) ( only wish I was )

For ages I kept trying to get @Chris Wilson to sign up and finally managed to do so. Not got any other mates who are into photography.

It was Yv who brought me here, we'd known each other for quite a few years in real life after meeting on a forum elsewhere (not photography) and I helped her get back into the hobby there. She was firmly rooted here by the time I joined!

I shall be having words with her, later at tea break :D

Don't be too hard on her ;) we all make errors of judgement, god I know I have :p oh if I could turn back time to have never met/spoken to some people

*nothing against mr Nod (y)

I think admin should create a new rule and reward Cobra with a tenner for every person we sign up.

Ok Which one of you is the smart arse? :p

Stuart actually said...............
I think admin should create a new rule and reward us with a tenner for every person we sign up.
And I was going to offer free membership for a year (y)

Looks to me like someone's out to cause trouble. How is it that other people can put up comments and attribute them to me without me having anything to do with it?

Time for a sense of humour recalibration I think Stuart.

Indeed, hell I've been properly pillaged by some sneaky admin in the past, there's nothing particularly malicious about it, they're never going to edit/mess with something in such a way that's its going to make a member look bad externally to other members... god doing that could kill the forum stone dead, but a little poking of fun or joking is needed occasionally

Exactly...

Usually if we do edit something it's to make Cobra one of us look like a tool...

Hang on Mark, Chris doesn't need your help to do that ;):D

At the other place, it was you and The Good Doctor who both recommended Nikon cameras to Yv [instead of the obviously better Canon brand!], while The Good Doctor and I recommended you would enjoy driving a Mazda MX5. Equally, you and I recommended a Northern bird for The Good Doctor ... but he went and married a lady from Corsica instead!

God knows why I'm here?
