Notice There's gon' be some new sheriffs in town

Do their egos need more inflating? :exit:
No but a little sympathy may be in order for the rest of the hard work to come,
to bring this all to a conclusion
:p

How come there are none for Marc or The Big Yin.
TBH I'm not even sure how or why I got mine,
no doubt it was another p*** take from Marcel, some years ago.. ...

Yes, double-entry book-keeping is a black art to which I have committed myself in the name of TP!
The first time I ever heard that used, ( I still have no idea what it is) I just assumed that it was a little dodgy :D

All jokes aside, I do wish the 3 musketeers my best wishes. I'm happy that it's staying in house. And at least one of you has some sort of insight into how this forum has been managed. So hopefully everything will run smoothly.

I remembered to bookmark it last time so it'll be reposted periodically should the Pink Chris neglect his duties!

Certainly been a lot of chatter on these two threads and not a photo in sight.
Time for talkibg is over, lets see what the new kids on the block are made of.
:)

It won't be long now, however there are still a few bits to conclude...

This is exactly what I am made of

You'll be getting a zine of mine later in the week, if that doesn't put you off I don't know what will :)

There are plenty of things to do "in house" but some people just can't be bothered can they? :(

New owners/runners.
Yea, well, so?
As long as we keep it BRITISH biased and not let it become bloody American!

Double entry book keeping is the norm, 2 sets of books is pretty dodgy. ;)
One of my uncles who did quite well running his own business' used to say that three sets of books were needed. One for the Inland Revenue, one for a prospective buyer and one so that you knew how well you were doing in reality. ;)

That it takes three to stand up from the crowd to take over from one, shows I think how much 'the one' may have been doing all these years. Bravo Marcel. Enjoy the extra time and less stress these changes will hopefully make to your life.

Glad to finally get some more information of who the new proprietors are, and what the future holds, for the most part. :)

If I notice nothing changes, with the forums still here, it will be a win, if things change for the better, good times ahead. ;)

Good luck to the three brave souls who have stepped up. Bon chance x3. ;)

I once did a short company finance course and there was a section on double-entry book-keeping, I found it counter-intuitive at the very least . It's like a mirror world where debits are credits and credits are debits and it was as bad to have too much money you couldn't explain as to have too little. Good luck with that.

Nice to hear we will be able to carry on regardless (y)(y)(y)

Clearly comments like ‘I wouldn’t have bothered’ are unacceptable but it has been a generally accepted "rule" that posts in the Photos: ... sections are up for crit, there is also a Prefix of "Critique" for those sections. If the rule is crit. allowed then perhaps that prefix should be "No Critique" or may be the guidance should be changed to say posts only get crit if the poster asks for it either via the Prefix or in a comment. After all if you are relatively new to the forum you won't know the "rule" about crit anyway.

Then again, if you listen to some people the Like button has killed off all commenting so it doesn't matter either way :) but I do wonder what you expect to happen if you post a photo and and say you don't want any comments?

I think that one of the problems is the word 'crit'. Some people think it means criticism rather than critique and the difference is important and should be made.

Maybe, although I think that distinction is fairly often made and it is hard to make sure everyone, both OPs and commenters, get that message. I suspect it is more around the boorish attitude of some commenters and sometimes there is a mini pile-on; once one negative comment is made a few other people turn up to repeat the negative comment which is clearly unnecessary and can be a pretty disheartening.

That said, the vast majority of photo posts either get positive comments or no comments at all. I think the no comment posts are because people shy away from saying anything negative.

Feedback is a much better word IMO. Critique implies that the critiquer has some sort of "skill" that elevates them, whereas "Feedback" is more "this is what I think".

If somebody can't suggest a way to improve something, maybe they just don't know what they're talking about, and shouldn't be giving critique anyway. For me, although I don't critique that often, I would normally suggest what I think would make the image better. Isn't that what it's about?

I've never liked the word critique on images, feedback is far better imo.

I know of a couple of people who play that game and who do very-nicely-thank-you in reality while earning all but sod all as far as the tax man is concerned. Guess who's moaning that they're getting their grants based on the sod all income they've been declaring!

how about critical feedback? :D

But critical does imply negative usually, as has been said :(. I think feedback is a much better term and more Anglo Saxon than the Frenchified critique :) .

Possibly amplified as positive feedback or helpful feedback, but maybe I’m overthinking it now :(.

I know someone like that. Those that get paid a low wage but seem to take large dividends.... That'll teach them
