...that I was caught fondling a Nikon at last weeks TP trip to Bolton Abbey.
I can confirm that all reports (well most of them) are true.
Having been a Canon man since the day I went DSLR, I asked our very own chuckles if I could have a quick play with his D200, as I had never even held a Nikon DSLR before.
The only reason I went Canon (350D) is that I was following everyone else I knew in the photography world. They all had Canon DSLRs and it was the only DSLR I could afford at the time too.
Well, anyway, I must say, I picked up the D200, and my first thought was "Boy, is this comfortable", and it was. I noticed immediately, how comfortable it was in my hand, slightly more so than my 30D if I'm being honest.
The viewfinder...not sure if it was bigger, I didn't do a side by side comparison, but it did feel easier to look through. With my 30D, without the eyepiece extender on, I find I have to mover my eye 'around' to see all four corners, or squish up right against the eyepiece to see all the viewfinder at the same time.
Also, I found the horizontal and vertical lines in the viewfinder a great bonus (especially as I was pointing it at a landscape shot with a horizon). Not sure if they would be a help or a hindrance with something like macro or portraits, but I can see where they would certainly benefit.
The shutter sound has a nice reassuring 'clunk' to it too.
I know this isn't the most technical of viewpoints and for a £1000 SLR, it's hardly a decisive review, but I'm simply giving my thoughts after having had a first hold of a Nikon, even if only it was for a few moments.
So....I have to admit, for first impressions, I was suitably impressed, and I felt I needed to admit it (and this was before I was bribed by a Marianne home made choc chip cookie).
So....in light of this I feel I must say...

Even though there's no doubt I still
