The Who

Brilliant musical artistes. Can't see 1D writing a rock opera. (or shagging as many birds/fellers (catch my drift))

They're so good that the Olympic organisers invited KM to play at the closing ceremony on the 12th of August

I saw them twice back in the mid 70's, when keith moon was alive....wouldn't have missed it for the world.

One of the best bands of the 60s and that's saying something.

I remember when the mods and rockers couldn't decide on whether they were a rock or mod band and used to have huge punch ups over it. I was a bit more of a rock fan so always erred on that side but was never involved in any fisticuffs. ( I may have caused some though)

Now that I can't believe

I thought Quadrophenia was great - in fact one of my all time faves, however, Tommy is one of my least favourite. Strange

I can see where the confusion came from, it's the biker jackets and long hair that did it...

They look so young an innocent but you just know Moon was planning some outrage :)

Is this the same mod goup?

No, it's only 3/4 of them

They still don't look like the sort of "rockers" that would have been involved in punch-ups with mods, that pic looks as if it is from the late 60s/early 70s, long after the whole mods 'n' rockers scene.

Their music/dress style obviously evolved over time, much in the way it did with......

I saw the "Can you see the real me" documentary the other day too. I wasn't born when the first wave of "mod" culture came around but was just the right age for the revival that came about after the release of Quadrophenia :)

Funny thing that it's years since I last saw some dressed as a mod and then today as we came out of a local supermarket there was a lad wearing a parka with "The Jam" painted (printed?) on the back of it...lost style points big time for me though when I saw he had long(ish) hair, dark blue jeans (normal leg width) and Doc Martins  I don't know if it was just the Mod fashion police where I grew up all of those things would have been frowned upon :rules::D

ah yes.. Quadrophenia... that's when Leslie Ash used to do something for me :D
