Loooong time back an ex soldier colleague told me a story about an exercise with Germans. On the day it was to start there was a good old British cock up and only half the men and kit turned up but without batting an eye the Brit commander reorganised things and got on with it. The Germans were astonished and said that in the same position they'd have had no idea what to do :D

I can see how muddling through and not simply coming to a stop if the plan goes wrong could work but generally maybe it's best to have a well worked out plan and a backup plan or two too?

I thought you were describing how the nhs had been working for the last 10 years there.

I guess it’s an easy one to explain. In normal times it would not be a problem. In any case, what sort of wedding will it be? Hope Andy Has a wide angle as the group shot with everyone 2m apart will be interesting!!! Do we really think large scale events like that will still happen, bars and venues like that open? At best by the end of the month we may be able to see a couple of other people or go out a few more times a day to a garden centre. Just going into next will be June at best.

Yeah I'd be surprised if weddings are back to normal by September anyway, but can obviously only act on the current situation. Just going to wait for official advice being published, then have a chat with them.

Not much else you can do.
My niece is getting married at end of Sept.
She's praying it can still go ahead as planned.

My son is getting married at the beginning of September, if it does go ahead, I can see quite a few people missing off the guest list.

It took science over 40yrs to fidn the source for AIDS and HIV, and that too has been traced to mans interaction with animals, perhaps the vegans have got it right, Leave the animal kingdom alone !!
(My bold) Noooo! If everyone were Vegan we’d be overrun with rats and bats etc :(. It’s only because the rest of us are eating some and controlling other animals that Veganism can work in an urban society :).

This may be what we hear tomorrow. 5 Phases each lasting 3 weeks. If all is well then it will continue, if not then we will revert to last stage. This looks to me, if it's genuine that schools will not re-open until the September normal start.

If coronavirus cases begin to increase, we will revert to the restrictions set out in the previous stage.

You can rely on this as absolute fact as it was posted by a delivery driver at CCS firewood pizza who lives in Glasgow. What more qualifications does he need?

That can't be accurate, there is no 5km restriction

And I think words like cocooning are not common so hoping this is fake.

The government will need to keep furlough scheme in place until places open as normal. Is that affordable seeing as leisure employs so many people? And if we kee the 14 day quarantine for long we will have no tourism from overseas killing that sector.

Bob..I was unaware it had been posted some days ago .I did do a quick run back through a day or so but expected some scepticism about it and rightly so but it looked well set out. I thought it might be genuine as it came from my sister's friend's cousin twice removed (from his home by police :))who, she believes, found it on a train whilst travelling through Surrey where Dominic Raab has his constituency...:D

All will be revealed tomorrow :)

Interesting but I will be surprised if we get to stage 5 without there be several further lockdowns during the proposed period.

Putting aside whether it's a genuine leak or not, I agree. I think this Covid-19 has some surprises up its sleeve. Each time I listen to virologists what comes across to me is that they don't know the ins and outs (to use a decidedly unscientific term..:)) of this virus.

It's obviously the plan from the Republic of Ireland if you read it all, ie cocooning is the term being used for those similar to the over 70s here and those with underlying health conditions, also they currently have a 5km rule, used to be 2km, and the biggest giveaway is the GAA reference.

Just watching the news this morning, and they are talking about Thermal imaging helmets. These can be used by police and various other bodies, to detect high body temperature. Just wondering, I would probably trigger the device as a positive reading. For some strange reason I do overheat and I sweat very easily. I have always been like that since being a teenager, doctors have simply said it was normal for me, and found no underlining health problems, apart from the norm stuff.

As I have already said I have always gotten very hot and sweaty, even as a very slim and healthy teen. So if they do bring the helmet tech out, I will simply have to try and keep my cool. :)

The device will simply register a high body temp, but it does not mean that person who triggered it, does have the virus. It will be a difficult situation though, by trying to tell the operator I am simply hot stuff. ;)

"" No country has been spared the ravaging coronavirus pandemic, but some have handled it better than others, and there is almost universal agreement amongst the world’s media that Britain’s response has been abysmal.
As Britain this week recorded the highest death rate in Europe – and the second in the world behind the US – an incredulous foreign press described the situation using colourful invective: it is “a shambles”, “a nightmare” reflecting “negligence”, “complacency” and “stupidity”. ""

Take your temperature and see — forehead thermometers are cheap and accurate. If you are sweating it’s keeping your temperature down.

FWIW I found that after spending a couple of years in my youth OHMS in a hot country that I acquired the ability to sweat readily that I never had before :).

Been trying to get hold of a thermometer, everywhere sold out. Just been out for my morning walk, and it is pretty cold out with people wearing coats. I was wearing Tshirt, but I still came back sweating, after a brisk walk. It is just the norm for me. :)

Interesting article on the BBC about a group of people being infected with what *sounds* like coronavirus. In December 2019. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52589449

At this stage it's all anecdotal, but having suggested to @Bebop that the infection her family experienced was too early, coupling this with the positive sample from France from the beginning of December, I'm now starting to think the virus has been in Europe for quite some time, and was also probably in circulation in China for longer than realised. There's other questions this throws up, like where are the bodies IF it was here, but those are secondary.

NOT people, the Police and various other authorities. I did not say people ( general public) . ;)

Looks like there are suspicions that coronavirus was infecting people outwith Europe (e.g. USA) before the first officially recorded cases.

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/05/05/health/us-coronavirus-tuesday/index.html

" In Chicago, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said it will review deaths involving heart attacks and pneumonia for indications of Covid-19 as far back as November, Cook County spokesperson Natalia Derevyanny told CNN.
The first known coronavirus death in the county was March 16.
The office will look at viral pneumonia cases along with heart attacks caused by arteries being blocked (arterial thrombosis), as opposed to cases brought on by heart failure.
"The goal is to see if this virus was present before we knew of it," Derevyanny said.
While Derevyanny called the decision to look back to November an arbitrary timeframe, if a positive case is discovered it will prompt the office to look back even further. "

Body temperature is easily & instantly measurable, whether minor symptom or not.

Spain and Italy have only been counting hospital deaths.

Can you point to references for this?

This must be amongst the most important pieces of information we could have when doing the rough and ready comparisons that people are making between countries.

The other, maybe less obvious crucial piece of information is whether they are using the standard WHO/statistical method of recording cause of mortality, which we aren't and this is inflating our Covid-19 death numbers.

The scientists at the briefings are very vague on this, and googling hasn't helped me find the answers to these two questions.

That link doesn't work for me but I presume it's relating to the multiple organ failures in children?

If so this has been reported in the UK already (I knew of it) and in the Lancet but came as a complete surprise to the presenter on radio 5 piece I heard talking to some American. I believe I'm right in saying that the number of affected children is low, I think I heard 12 in the UK, and that a link to c19 isn't certain as some affected children have tested negative for c19.

It may be c19 related or it may be something different. Maybe there's not enough information or cases to determine what it is yet.
