The virus. PPE. Part 1

Knew it, but do you really think any PM would turn the army on its own citizens?
We are in the UK, not Afghanistan or Iraq
You are living in cloud cuckoo land, it's not a computer game.
I guess you missed the smiley :). However, it’s been done before and maybe again. Remember Boris’ hero Churchill sent troops to sort out Welsh miners (though I think they did not actually engage them). And BTW you are not really a Citizen but Subject, you were a real Citizen until we left the EU :(.

This Wednesday will be the last time I go to Mums as I will do her a big shop, then explain to her for both our safety I have decided to stay at home but will phone every day.
I can shut my self away as I have done something like this in the past, yes it will be hard and also have to keep an eye on my mental health but I`m sure along with many others WE can and WILL get through it all (y)

We have been in isolation for 11 days now, due to my wifes medical condition.
On Mothers day we had a video chat/meeting with my sons in London and Leeds also some inlaws from Texas and Mexico. We used HouseParty app to do it.
It was fantastic, lifted everybody's spirits.
If anybody on here is alone and really down I would happily join a group video chat to let them know we are distant but with them.
PM me if I can help.

That’s actually against what the Prime Minister mandated. The new rules come into effect tonight.

No. Just No. Don't go there. :$ :)

It’s a desperate situation requiring desperate measures, yet here we have people already trying to use “loopholes”.

Not a loophole at all, he said exercise and that will be my last for my Mum so dont go there with me or your Blocked (y)

The Grand Hotel in town today closed, they said it will open only for NHS workers.

I work for a hotel chain with over 500 hotels, this could be fun! :$

You're allowed out if caring for others.

You should not be out visiting relatives, you should not be doing a big shop. That is what has been announced. People like you are a danger to society.
YOU WANT THIS VIRUS TO GO AWAY? THEN STOP BEING SO SELFISH AND ABIDE BY THE RULES. THEY ARE THERE FOR A REASON.

So how exactly does his Mum get supplies then?

FFS! His Mum is housebound and he is allowed to care for her.

His post never said anything her being housebound did it?
From memory it said he was going to visit her on Wednesday and do a big shop for her. He also said he will stop visiting her which implies he is not a carer.

Sainsbury’s are currently blocking anyone who is not elderly, disabled or insane from booking deliveries. They say the information they have on me doesn’t show me in one of those categories. Since I have devoted much effort for years to keep Sainsbury’s and others having accurate information on me (hello Facebook) it seems I have succeeded ... but am now hoist with my own petard! :(

Read more of his posts and you might learn a bit more about the circumstances.

Be nicer.

You can though see people if you are their carer or they need help. A friend of mine is in isolation due to being vulnerable but she visits her dad who is old and not in best of health.

I used to care for my Nan until the age of 91, if she was still alive I would still be going out to shop for her weekly or twice weekly and making sure all was fine with her at her bungalow.

all very well to suggest online shopping but looked at Waitrose and no slots available for delivery or click and collect. Could be a glitch but a friend said Tesco’s locally was booked out for 2 weeks plus. What then??

I`m not even going there, for one reason and one reason only I like/love this forum so don`t want a life ban. Boris said folk can care for others and my caring for my housebound 88 yr old Mum is caring so to me that is not dangerous to love help and care for my Mother.

For the last 13 odd years I have been going over to help Mum who I love, every Wednesday and Saturday. Since the outbreak of the virus I had cut it back to just a Wednesday.

Sadly Mum does not have a PC/Laptop.

My 86yr old mum has a laptop, she has absolutely no idea how to use it unless one of my daughters or niece or nephews are there to do it for her. I now order her shop online for her, but there is now a 2 week wait for that so like you I have to do it for her.

now a 2 week wait for that
As more and more people get grounded, I suspect that timescale will dramatically increase too :(

I signed up for Tesco a while ago, so I hope our shopping will be delivered this Friday. If not then my girlfriend will bring some shopping home.
Before anyone jumps, my girlfriend is a nurse working in Brighton Hospital.

Dont apologise on here mate. I've "met" our Ricardo before. His attitude needs no further explanation than this thread displays. NOBODY with any degree of sanity would hinder you caring for your mum. Shes a lucky Lady.

One thing Mum taught me was, David if you get angry before you open your mouth Count to Ten so it came in handy.

I have done delivered for a few years now for her, at first and up until recently it has been great but now the order turns up with probably only 60% of what was ordered, I don't blame the shop, I blame the knob'eds who see fit to order/buy bushells of items that they don't need to. Hopefully this will improve but I don't hold out too much for that.

I'll say what everyone else is avoiding but thinking.

You are being a dick.

indeed mot and annual service booked for Wednesday, I drive my partner to work each day for her job assembling ventilators.....at a time when buses dont run and they are talking of 24 hour shifts....
I have a service booked for 2nd April, it should be done during April to preserve the warranty. I have just emailed the dealer to find out what is happening.

Our shop is just 4 toilet rolls/chops/frozen chips/milk/beer/wine/dog food/ sweets/crisps.soap/handgel and other bits and pieces.

I've just tried to sign up for online shopping.

Guess how I got on.
We have been using Sainsburys but that is now blocked, Tesco, Asda,Morrisons and Iceland have no delivery slots in my area for at least 3 weeks, I did manage to get a click & collect slot with Asda on the 10th April eventually.......

Not looking for a loop hole but the PM says you can go out once for exercise Now I go for a walk with my camera Birding but do drive there it's an isolated place and I rarely see anyone it's a Marsh so no one would come near me surly this is ok
We went into lock down last week so I do take this seriously .
Rob.

I've got an Ocado order booked for April 9th, will still need a fair few bits before then.
It's what it is, hopefully the situation will improve after the three weeks isolation

That's me done on here, leave you all to argue the toss, won't change b****r all so have fun.

Things tightened up this evening in France (PM on TV)

A strict 1km limit from the house for exercise (previously stated as 2km max) and for a maximum of 1 hour.
Doctors appointments only for urgent conditions.
Town markets to be suspended and only reopened with consent of local mayors.
Mayors now have the power to invoke curfews.......(Poitiers' mayor immediately announced a 22h-05h curfew)

Side note.....Pharmacies will now serve repeat prescriptions beyond their expiry date alleviating the need to visit the doctor.

I think the panic/greedy/idiot/tosser shopping has a secondary effect.
Because shops are limiting (understandably) what people can buy , instead of doing a weekly shop you have to pop out 2 or 3 times. Which is exactly what we don't want. This makes sensible shopping and supply chain management a key tool in stopping the spread. (In my view anyway)
