The universal trigger interface (The little box)

Found it. How about putting into the trigger forum?

er I don't understand the question?
the original thread is where it always has been
the new threads are in the photo triggers forum?

er - what's the question?

ah - are you suggesting moving THIS thread to the photo triggers forum? :)

It might be I'm on the app at the moment. Only thing I see in the trigger forum is the cables.

As this is a photo forum, got any pics of the finished item/ starter pack? Or have I missed that as well?

How does sir want paying?

wonder if the app is caching things?

as for payment - we will be able to take:
  • cash
  • credit card
  • debit card
  • paypal
:)

... and you want pictures - shock horror
as soon as the hardware arrives from the manufacturer there will be pictures

all a bit string and sealing-wax at the moment

take a glance at "stickies"
the announcement thread is - you guessed - sticky!

Any chance of a downloadable copy of the manual/docs. for triggers and control unit to get a preview of the full features etc.?

Jim

maybe nearer the time
still working on the software
then we can finish the documentation

Mike

Is there any way in which your trigger will work with the following which I believe gives you control over the number of drops and interval between the drops?

The Drip Kit http://www.bmumford.com/photo/waterdrops/dripkit.html

it's better than that

we have a drip controller in the pipe line (:naughty:)

but, one of the features of our controller is that it can drive devices like that as well!

I'm sure Darren will be along in a moment to correct me

That's good to hear I'm even more interested now especially with the drip controller. So when do you expect these to be ready for shipping?

There will be a whole host of triggers available with two available on launch day:

Water droplet trigger (Included with the controller)
Sound & vibration trigger (Available with the same 25% discount so costing under £40 and includes a built in mic plus you can use an external mic or peizo discs)

The other triggers and interfaces will be released in a steady stream :D

The controller allows VERY accurate adjustments of delay etc etc accurate to a millisecond and as we have a decent LCD display you can see the delay and re-create it another time.

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but is the display backlit ?

no it hasn't (been mentioned)
yes it is (backlit)

2 lines 16 chars lots of information!

As this looks to be pretty much competing with the Camera Axe system - any chance of a side by side feature comparison ? (no harm in asking eh?) ;)

Our device will compare rather favourably :)

We will certainly do a comparison but there are a few features that nobody else has and I don't want to give too much away yet.

Good to know - don't really see the problem with "publishing" the benefits though - look like you have a price advantage in any case so if the feature list is even more extensive then........ ;)

There isn't a problem so to speak but Mike is unavailable for a couple of days and now that this is a joint venture I have to discuss things with him

We should have 10 triggers and or expansion interfaces etc available by Christmas too although only 2 or possibly 3 will be available for the show with the others being launched possibly every month or so.

Thanks - it's a sensible approach and I look forward to hearing about the new stuff as well :)

we will be publishing a blow-by-blow comparison chart
I believe we can compete with anything on the market

well we would say that, but the system is designed to be extended - so watch out for lots of add-on triggers

there will also be the possibility of computer control - so what you can do is almost unlimited

cheers
Mike

...so what sort of other triggers are you thinking of - over and above the obvious ones such as sound/light/vibration/projectile ?

Motion would be good so it could be used as a trigger for wildlife.

I believe the "lad who understands these things" already has that on his list :)

I like the sound of this, how will it compare to the time machine

will make sure it's on the "how does it compare with ..." list
tahsnk!

I have the next two triggers fully working on my bench and the software to make use of these interfaces is already written and included in the launch software! We can't launch with 4-6 triggers as the cost of having boxes cut (no amateurism here) and PCBs made and machine populated (or here) would be too high so once the original devices leave us the money gets ploughed back in the cover more triggers etc.

The next three triggers after that are currently swimming around in my head together with another two add-ons......

The next one I am building is dependant on which components arrive next :-)

...any news on the documentation ? :)

I'm re-writing chunks of the code to make the device much more user friendly whilst adding sections of code to deal with devices that we have already designed and/or built but will be releasing later. Because of this it makes it difficult to show people the manual but we will do soon and it will be worth it.

I'm currently sat here with version 1 of an ad-on device which is partially complete but probably 6th on the list of releases :) I have to build it up to the point where it will "talk" to the controller so that the code can be written and included in the controller so that people that buy the controller at the show (or mail order at the same time as the show) will still be able buy the new device later and just plug it in.

Our device will be software user upgradeable so long as you have purchased the power/control/programming lead (which is very cheap :)). All the triggers and add-ons that we have planned will be catered for in the original box but we can add new features etc at will later so personally I think buying the lead would be a bonus.

We are offering 25% off everything at the show which basically means that for about the original retail price of the starter kit you could get the starter kit (which includes the water droplet trigger), sound & vibration trigger and the power/control/programming lead.

...I was thinking of starting this post with "Do you hear that?..... it's the sound of the World's tiniest violin.... get back to work!" :naughty:

...but as I read on I decide to say - "that sounds great - will this discounted bundle price still be available via mail order to those who have already expressed an interest ? - my hardworking chum...." ;)

...so what sort of other triggers are you thinking of - over and above the obvious ones such as sound/light/vibration/projectile ?

Sound & vibration are ONE trigger which is due for release at the same time as the controller. It has a built in microphone BUT you can plug an alternative microphone in instead. Vibration is handled by optional vibration discs which will come in packs and are quite cheap :)

The droplet trigger which comes in the starter pack will detect projectiles as well as droplets..... (sorry I was wanting to add something here but you'll all have to wait for that :))

Then we have at least 4 some triggers and 2 more accessories plus (sorry can't say that bit either)

will this discounted bundle price still be available via mail order to those who have already expressed an interest ? - my hardworking chum...." ;)

It's not technically a discounted bundle, it's just that if you take the combined price of the starter kit (inc water droplet trigger), sound trigger & power/control/programming lead and take off 25% it comes to about the original retail price of the starter pack.

YES we will be offering the same discount to everyone on TP that places an order within a set time of the show. Not sure if we've discussed this amount of time yet but will speak to Mike about it.

There are so many things I want to tell you all about but I'll have to wait.....

...so if memory serves then that's about £200 for the new "bundle" ?

I've just read the last couple of threads and I'm confused!

so here's my answer to the question you might have asked:

starter kit normal price is £198
sound trigger normal price is £49.50
power/control/programming/computer/(does it really make the tea?) cable £19
normal price total £266.50

discounted prices for orders in May (25% off):
starter kit £148
sound trigger £37
power/control/programming/computer/(does it really make the tea?) cable £14
discounted total is £199

remarkably close to the list price for the starter kit
have to admit the maths works out quite nicely!

in fact if anyone does buy a full set like that - I'd knock the £1 off so it becomes £198!!!
got to be a bargain
hope that helps
Mike
