Gpush - sends you a push notification as soon as you recive an email to you gmail address meaning you can turn off fetch. And it works flawlessly, cant recommend enough

Added. Cheers Titch  This may persuade me to drop my mobileme account when it comes up for renewal.

One of my most used apps is AirSharing

Very simple to use and can drag 'n drop stuff straight onto you iphone over a wifi connection.

Cheers Chris! Not heard/seen that one before. Have added to list and my iPhone!

Any N97 users lol?

i had one for a while it was so slow and frustrating
i nearly smashed it on the floor several times so i sold it and got a 3gs
my life is now a lot calmer

Here's a tip, you don't need Gpush for push email on gmail anymore

Add a new mail account to your iphone, pick the Microsoft Exchange option, use your email address and password and the server name as m.google.com, you do not need to input a domain name, use do need to use SSL. et voila! Push gmail! You can then delete your pop3 account and turn off fetching for email unless you have other non-push accounts

A great app for Twitter and / or Facebook users is Boxcar.

It gives you an immediate notification when someone @mentions you (twitter) or comments on Facebook.

Three I use:

Sunrise & Sunset Pro (Know where the sun will rise and set for your landscapes)
Photogene (Photo editing on your iphone)
Tiltshift Generator (simulates the tiltshift/lensbaby effect)

Edit: another cool one, not so photography related though - GB Locate, give you your easting and northing, lat and long.

RedLaser - Take a picture of a barcode and it will scour Amazon and Google for the best price for that product.

Links are going to be added to OP when he gets around to it... :suspect:

AND... you have Best Camera and you've not posted on the iPhone image thread ... :nono:

Give us a blast...

:p

 give me a chance guys! I am up to date as of 1630 today!
Will update the last two suggestions into OP shortly. Takes a fair while cos I have to track down developers website and then go get the app store link, then edit the code in original post!
Keep them coming!

Umm, the iPhone supports push email for Gmail via the Exchange mailtype - google it :]

so you did :P that'll teach me to post without reading the full thread ;]

also, any chance of indicating whether the apps are free or not ?

Added. Cheers  have downloaded a couple o them myself.

Is push really that important to people?
I have to say that I have turned push off and fetch every 15 mins because this has made a massive difference to my battery life and reading an email the second it is sent is not that important to me, I can wait 15 mins :)

Yes. I found my battery life was shocking when I used to check for mail every 5 mins.

Horses for courses I suppose, but I have genuinely found it much better to check every 15 mins than use push.

I am just rolling out a specialised PDA system in our work too for all my mobile engineers and using push email on exchange killed the battery on the PDA's, changed that to check every 30 mins I think it was and the guys told me the battery life nearly doubled.

PS Mobile - got it and it's a nice editing tool, also register and get 2GB storage and a ****.photoshop.com site.

You have to create an American iTunes account to get it as its not in the UK store but that is very easy to do.

The app is free and storage are free

from the site you get you can also link in to all your flickr pictures (doesn't affect storage space)

yeah , i just found out about this, but as far as i am aware you can only have one exchange connection set up, so if its a company phone its handy :)

actually you can have multiple, but i wouldn't try syncing 2 calenders :@)

Thanks all for the suggestions and keep them coming!
At the moment I will only be adding the UK available apps because the whole registering a USA iTunes account is a grey area!

 ... Some people may want them or even be signed up already though... :suspect: ... is it not worth listing them but with the USA notation and no pricing detail unless/until they come to the UK store...
