The TalkPhotography Gaming Thread

Day Z looks like my kind of game, but it's still only in the Alpha stage and I can't justify spending £20 on an unfinished game!

DayZ is a dead end, the engine is pants and will never get out of alpha state.

I'm waiting for one of the clones running on a decent engine to come out.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, mine is that DayZ is not a dead end as you put it, sure it can be frustrating, but it's also tons of fun, much like every other game.

H1Z1 is likely to put it to bed. I'm not bashing DayZ because I don't like it, I'm bashing it because it is fundamentally flawed. The underlying engine has had horrible netcode since OpFlash came out in the 90s, and the devs aren't/can't doing anything about it.

Great concept....but needs to be done on a modern engine to realise it's potential.

My current favourite and with quite a few hours sunk in is War Thunder (free to play). It's got so bad that my Flickr now has screenshots and I've contemplated starting a "show us your game screenshot" thread. Everyone has a PrintScreen button don't they? Could there be an art to it? It's so pretty and those Hispano cannons sound... delicious. harlequin565 on Steam if you want to fly out together...

I'm also thoroughly enjoying the frustration of FTL which appeals to my ZX Spectrum gaming days where it was all about the gameplay and less about the shiny graphics.

You wait til you do the "Under the bridge" and "Knife flights" challenges. Right old pain. Going back to the airport every time you crash or reloading a save every time, talk about a drag.

I've just done all the "under the bridge" challenges in a stolen helecopter, the only ones I had difficulty with were the 2 extremely low ones in the harbour which I didn't crash but took a few passes before I did it without touching the water, and the 2 narrow drainage channels which I had to blow 2 mil on a buzzard 'cause the normal chopper was too wide to fit through.

Still waiting for the 10 days to be up.

Mine.

I'd rather be doing something even if it's just playing sports, I don't like continuously going to bed those kids might be getting up to no good again :)

I've got the 5 mile walk through the desert to look forward to soon, that'll be fun.

Aye I'd have to agree. I was one of those who did purchase it in alpha and I'm yet to be satisfied that any significant developments have been made toward making DayZ an acceptable game. I realise it's in alpha and I'm fully aware of what that means, but at the moment it is so far from being an acceptable game that I'd strongly suggest not buying it at this stage.

A game that definitely is worth paying for whilst it is still in development stage is Kerbal Space Program. I am already satisfied that I have got my money's worth from that game and it isn't even out of development yet.

I've got a PS3, and X-Box 360 and a PlayStation Vita.

Currently enjoying some great retro fun with Crash Bandicoot on the Vita.

MMOs for me. Just moved from Rift to Wildstar. Will probably return to WoW when next expansion comes out, but looking forward to Everquest Next
