Did anyone watch "The Stuarts" last night? What is a very interesting series about a pivotal dynasty in English and British history was all but ruined by the cinematography.
I'm not sure what was intended but it seemed as though the cameraman had just found a toy camera lens or he'd just been told about DOF but the end result was a mess.:(
Almost every shot was lost to over the top intentional blurring of everything but the focus of attention [sorry about the pun:)].
DOF is important in photography but the filming in this program was way OTT!
Rant over......

Watched the first one, but not seen part 2 yet. Got to admit I didn't notice the camera problems. I liked the presenter Clare Jackson. Seemed interested without being OTT and very clear in her presentation.

Also Simon Schama is covering the same period in his History of Britain series.

Another great history programme on ATM is Melvyn Bragg's Radical Lives. First one was on John Ball who I knew little about. The next one is about Thomas Payne, a hero of mine. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04d8khr

I didn't notice it in the first installment either Patrick, but in this one, oh dear!
Clare Jackson does a super job and it was really interesting to see Schama's and her take on the same subject, they're both consummate presenters and the Beeb do a great job with stuff like this. I just wish I'd had history teachers like them when I was at school, then I wouldn't have failed history exams :(
