Hey, spent too much time here in this section viewing all your work while i was on the late shift last night.
The standard of stuff here is just great, more than i could ever hope to do myself but i am learning from you all, and may give macro a go:..thanks for sharing your stuff here.

it is amazingly good stuff in here, isn't it - I've been getting some great ideas too and will hopefully get the time to try them out soon

macro gives a whole new perspective to ordinary objects.
i am so impressed with the imagination of photographers in this section.
how some images are done is frankly mind boggling.
strange too that some of the best images in my view are of relatively everyday things.

I know what you mean - it's good though as it gives you something to aspire to... and lots of helpful people who will hopefully give you a few tips on your way.

As this is a discussion thread and not a photo sharing thread, I've moved it to Talk Photography and modified the title for you :)

some hard acts to follow in the macro section but well worth the effort trying and doing lots of posting and getting some constructive crit, it really will help you improve. Hat tip to Alby, he has been inspirational to me this year, its been a pleasure looking at his work and trying to reach his standard, fat chance though ;)

each to his own...camera

macro is a world of differing perspectives..not all shots need be pin sharp renditions of an insects eye
just so long as the shot is lifesize on the sensor... or why not larger

macro can be used to show detail of particular items as i use for some of our antiques to send to auction houses
the main thing is that one strives to extract the best possible quality from his/her equipment by using adept lighting and set up procedures

making comparisons with the giants here can destroy your objectivity and lose faith in your equipment and technique

having said that i always get blown away when i see a dslr/good glass blast of nature..
cheers
