As mud"Paired images" - open to a degree of interpretation, but usually involves two images juxtaposed together to tell a story or make a comparison, or it could be one image comprising two views of the same thing eg the real and a reflection I suppose; but conventionally the former, which might be achieved by placing two images together in a final jpeg either by overlaying one on the other or next to each other using a mask perhaps? In film, I'd expose half the paper with one negative then move the paper across and expose the other half with a different negative. Hopefully that makes it clear?
