The Shard

Not roughly from behind...

Obvious puns aside.... Yes, my wife and I went up the Shard a couple of years ago, great experience and given that I'm not good with heights I managed to get up to the edge and take soem photos

Ive taken my Wife up the Shard a couple of times. The view is fantastic.

yes you dirty minded lot... is it worth a punt?

I thought they'd converted from Punts to Euros (well, it's not long past St Patrick's day!)

IF I was in Lungdung doing the tourist trail, I would be tempted by a Shard trip, although the trek to the top and back would eat into the day.

It's a big building almost wholly owned by the state of Qatar.
Drop the daft prices and it might be worth a look.

I'd like to go up there, but the ticket price for the observation deck is absurd. Think I'll spend the money on a drink in one of the restaurants slightly lower down.

Well worth a visit in my opinion, the views are excellent and will be remembered long after the ticket cost has been forgotten.

No tripods, but with care you can get some reasonable shots by placing the camera against the windows. I spent a couple of hours up there, waiting for sunset - it was worth it.

I went up in mid January. Although there was thick fog I wanted to look around prior to collecting my voucher to rebook. Your bag is x-rayed and you walk through a body scanner. They asked if I had a tripod in my bag, I said no. They then pressed the point and I admitted to having a Gorillapod, but not a tripod. They classed it as a tripod, not allowed. My backup was to rest my camera on my bag, lens touching the glass and use a remote shutter release. I also had some cloth with a central hole for the lens, and multiple small rubber suckers around the outside to stick to the glass. This was to hopefully cut down on reflections. I'm just about to rebook, taking account of sunset times, to arrive well before hand. From memory the entrance was either £25 or £27. There's two viewing areas, the top one appears to be the best. In thick fog it looked as if the windows had been painted a dirty white.

This was the viewing area shot with a fisheye lens. Due to the fog there was only myself, another photographer and the house photographer up there. He wasn't doing any trade.
