The royal baby

Does this mean they'll be entitled to a council house? ;-)

nah, what about ≠ << the heir [to the heir, to the heir] formerly known as Prince :D

Seriously though, I don't mind the royal family, they don't do a bad job. I DO mind the bloody 24 hr ongoing onslaught of 'baby-watch news', it is already driving me nuts :bang: I think I might have to go and watch some obscure Sky channel for a few weeks....

I think I just got a world exclusive with this pic i snapped.

"Pedant Alert"....My apologies....I can't help myself....

Windsor is the used family name, not a title, so to make it even more amusing it's simply Legoland Windsor.

AS I said....sorry....I'll get my coat.....

To slightly out pedant you...

It'd be Legoland Cambridge.

Public gets what the public wants - you had to expect it. What annoyed me was the vox-popping of people all day with the probing question 'Do you think it's a boy or a girl.'

Next up, the weather; we'll be asking some unqualified members of the general public if they believe it'll snow or not this Christmas.

There's NOTHING of interest on the box tonight...

I do love a well reasoned, thought out and articulate response. Well done, you failed on all three.

Sorry. My reply reflected on my level of "cannot be arsed enough to bother about it."

I like Babies

But I couldn't eat a whole one :(

How would you avoid eating a whole one once you'd decided to start?:p

Surely it would be either Legoland Mountbatten-Windsor or (more likely) Legoland Wales?

Congratulations to the couple anyway.

it's good that someone had a baby and its healthy and so is the mum but the amount of air time given to the subject is way too much. I don't want my nightly entertainment interrupted by people talking about some one else's child.

The worst thing (so far) about it is the effect it's had on Susannah Reid's hair!

Congrats to William and Katy on their new arrival. Been there, done it, got the T.shirt. and it's a great time in any couples lives....But why do we have to be bombarded with it from the Media...Sky News I think has every news reader out on location for this story and frankly I find it a bit pathetic.:shake:
We will have this now for weeks...the baby coming out of hospital, talking to the hospital staff, naming the sprog, taking it to Buck House to see gran, and of course the Baptism.....grrrrrrr

Check out his flight suit, and the fact that queen stipulates that her male heirs retain the family name of Mountbatten-Windsor regardless of title or style. :p

It's all easy to avoid it all though, especially when internet news is much better than broadcast news these days. My only problem with it is that they've skirted around many of the prudent and important questions about monarchy and succession; instead asking inane questions to people with qualification to answer little or nothing other than inane questions.

Quite - if you look at his flight suit, you'll see the designation 'Flt Lt Wales'.*

His son will become Prince XXXXX of Cambridge, hence the Legoland Cambridge.

The problem is that you missed out one rather important point in your quote above, namely:

"The Queen has stipulated all her male-line descendants who do not bear the titular dignity of prince shall use Mountbatten-Windsor as their family surname"

*Edit - I forgot the casual bit about the SAR force, it's 'Will Wales' on his babygrow.

No he won't Wills is Prince William , Duke of Cambridge

LEGOLAND will probably be prince LEGOLAND, Viscount of farfaraway (or wherever , I can't be arse to look it up) until Charlie either dies or becomes king - at that point they'll all move up one , Wills will be Prince William, Prince of Wales, and LEGOLAND will be Prince LEGOLAND Duke of Cambridge

He could be styled prince LEGOLAND of Cambridge , if there is not a created title for him , just a wills was prince William of wales until he was created duke of Cambridge , but it will just be a style of address not an actual title

According to the news he will be know as prince of Cambridge. A title that hasn't been used for 190 years.

What title will the third-in-line to the throne be known by when it is born?
Royal commentator Alastair Bruce OBE explains that the Queen has had to do a bit of interfering in order to get the title she wants the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's child to have.
"In 1917 King George V changed all the royal titles, restricting 'Royal Highness' to the grandchild of a sovereign, no further on.
"Here we have a great-granchild being born to a sovereign and consequently there was no provision for a title at all.
"So the Queen has made it known that the children to Prince William will be 'Royal Highnesses' prince or princess of Cambridge

I'm afraid that's mostly cobblers Pete! :)

PS: the 'Legoland Cambridge' is his private styling - or rather that which would be used in the military.

Not really too interested in the royals (in fact I'm not sure who the mum and dad are).

But, glad all are well and best of luck to them.

I am indifferent to the baby, but sick of the media coverage. BBC radio has been horrendous since Kate went into hospital. Wall to wall live broadcasts from the palace and hospital. Everyone exactly the same "Nothing happening" interspersed with comments like "the World is waiting for news .............The "World waiting" - really !!

Yes - media interest all over the place, but how many folk actually give a toss.

I see that lots of the people who purport to "not give a toss" seem inordinately concerned with what he is going to be known as! ;)

....just saying....

Heather

I've heard from a friend working in comms in the RAF that its been called Albert.... Not sure of he's having a laugh or what though...

He's having a laugh.

That baby is a decoy.
