The return of Clarkson (and the other two)

Don't they look old in that ad.

Even more reason for Amazon Prime. Most of what I watch now is either Amazon or Netflix and Now TV for Sky Atlantic. Must look into cancelling TV license :D

Amazon Prime! Really?
I'm pretty sure Netflix has a much larger audience. I tried Amazon Prime and very quickly realised they where far worse than Netflix.

I see Robert Downey Jr, where's Hammond?

Netflix and Amazon are both overblown, Amazon is better for me just because they update their content a little more often

Never knew there were so many bad films available until I looked at Amazon prime films

I have prime but don't use video as it isn't on an appletv nor the humax platform. Can't update DVD player as the modern Bluray ones don't seem to include multi region DVD spec any more.

Oppo do a great one with full multi region capability. And not only that I can play ripped ISO from my bluray disks as well :)

I'm very pleased it is on prime. Happy days.

Anyone know what I will need, technology wise, to be able to watch this. I live in the sticks and have v.slow internet and don't have sky. I'm also, as you may have gathered, thoroughly ignorant of contemporary 'televisual technology' so please don't mock!
I would be happy to pay subscription to watch their new show.

Our internet is slow as well, about 2Meg, Amazon is very good at degrading the service. You have a choice depending on your TV, if it is a smart one like a Samsung or LG it will have an Amazon App. If I am not mistaken I think the Wii U has an app as well. If you have an apple tv box then you can use an iPhone and stream from there to your apple tv to the tv. Or if you have a laptop you can use that, either watch on the screen or via a cable to your TV. Or if your laptop can do WiDi or Miracast you can wirelessly stream it to your tv. Alternatively you can buy an Amazon firestick and pop that in a spare HDMI port on your TV and connect to the WiFi and watch like that.

Lots of ways really, sorry doesn't make it any easier does it :P

At least you have given me some things to investigate, so thanks. (y)
With v slow internet will the video keep pausing or do you/can you, download and watch later?

It is not as good as Sky which downloads to HDD first and I'm quite happy to wait until the following day. However it is better than youtube and the likes. The picture quality just becomes worse the slower your connection is.

You can use it via an iDevice on Apple TV (we do it all the time)

And with the added advantage of unlimited online photo backup :D
(which is worth the subscription by itself)

Which must be a real bummer for people who live in an analogue world - whereas those of us with 'proper' broadband (cough 154mb cough) have no problems ;)

I don't like the faff of using the ipad and mirroring though. I probably ought to try it once. Good excuse to get a second ipad then I've got one for mirroring and the other for bimbling around the internet while the telly is on :)

Haha rub it in :) I can only dream of that

You can still use the iPad for other stuff, you don't need to set it to mirror, the prime app, allows for AirPlay IIRC.

had netflix free from virgin media for 6 months as part of a guft for running samknows hub... utter rubbish but kids enjoyed some of it. looked at amazon prime but didnt seem much better tbh certainly not worth the monthly fee . for me i use Kodi ( formerly XBMC ). can watch what i want when i want with not problems, choose to watch in realtime or download and watch later. and cost wise.. nothing otehr than the 10 mins it takes to download, install and set up the plugins you want.

we use Prime and NowTV, cancelled Netflix as it wasn't being used... I have not watched 'proper' TV for months, can you still cancel TV lics?
Everything I've read states that if you do not watch or record live TV then you do not need a license, I suppose the difficulty is proving that you don't. Maybe if you haven't any way of watching live. I'd. Don't have sky, virgin, TV aerial etc. it could be possible

So you thump someone and end up losing your job. And then another company comes along and offers you exactly the same job. What a strange, mixed up world.
Imagine if you were sacked for violence. Immediately send out your CV for another job. At the interview: "Why did you leave your last job?"
"I was sacked for thumping a work colleague"
"Excellent, you're the man for us!"

wouldnt happen would it.

You don't have to prove you don't, TV licensing has to convince the court beyond reasonable doubt to you do (because AFAIK it's still a criminal rather than civil offence).

There are plans afoot to require a licence if you use catchup services, as legislation is way behind the real world at present. I'd suggest we move to the Danish model where ownership of a device capable of watching TV programmes requires a licence, and this includes 3G or better mobile phones, as those can stream TV services.

But he wasn't "sacked for violence". His contract wasn't renewed and, as far as I'm aware, there was no disciplinary process involved.

Which was the BBC's way of leaving the door open for when the furore died down.

Unless you are a prize fighter ( or bare knuckle fighter :D ) of course :D

Who's actually arsed about those three any more? I thought and wished they would just go away.

I hear your wishes, but looking at how the news is being received I would say a fair few would like to see them back. I'd like to see how it will be reinvented, it if is going to be more of the same then it doesn't matter to me, but I think they could pull off a new show. I wouldn't wish on anyone to just go away...

Recent series seem to have been more 3 middle aged blokes p***ing around in irrelevant, generally unaffordable cars rather than a decent car show. While I did sometimes enjoy the entertainment, I did find myself wondering how they got away with it for so long at our expense! Certainly not going to pay to see them and am looking forward to the new Top Gear when it starts.
