The price of s/h 5DIV bodies at Facebook Marketplace

I shouldn't really be looking at buying a 5DIV: my 5DII continues to give perfect service for my informal landscape/portraiture/cars etc photography and my recent impulse 1Ds teaches me that battery life and rear screen reviewing aren't the biggest issues in the world but do require a certain state of mind.

That doesn't stop me from idly browsing the pre-owned 5D market here and elsewhere. Of late I have been struck by the number of pre-owned 5DIV bodies in the FB market place at not only sub £1000 but even sub £600. Can this be true I ask myself? Or maybe "if it looks too good to be true, it usually is!" is what's at work here... what do you guys think?

Besides I don't really know whether my next FF body should be mirrorless: I like the heft of the 1Ds after all and I've always run my 5DII on a battery grip so, as yet, the weight is not an issue.

That is the correct price bracket for a 5DIII, but not a MkIV.


I wouldn't trust anything at that price.

For what's its worth , I've owned all of the 5ds , most of the 1ds and the newer r6 . And I can say the 5d4 is the best camera I've ever owned . I'm just home from a wedding today and used 2 r6 cameras and a 5d4 . I would say today (and most weddings ) at least 80% of the shots were on the 5d4 .
