I'm not sure these should be posted here but I'm sure the all powereful mods will move it if necessary.

A friend of mine in the States has just sent me this link.

Proof, if proof were needed of the destruction of the ongoing oil disaster off the US coast.

Heartbreaking stuff, but I don't recommend reading the rants further down the page.

Great pictures documenting a truely horrific lack of action taken by BP both before and after the disaster.

bIG OIL COMPANY'S=greed, greed, greed. Money comes first.

Let's also not forget America's insatiable demand for oil & "cheap gas". And, while I deplore the situation with BP and the leak, I can't help thinking that the Americans are very good at playing up their role as victims in an industrial disaster, while quietly sweeping their own under the carpet.

Does anybody recall the Bhopal Disaster when Union Carbide flooded a whole region of India with cyanide gas? I'm sure the Americans don't.

Spot on, but since when does the general public really has a clue? As heart breaking as it is, this is the price of maintaining the Western standards of living, there is a reason that "gas" is cheap.

the first company to break the dependance on oil will go down in history.

indeed, not sure if its already been mentioned but i find it slightly ironic that the US is being ravaged by this oil spill what with their uncontrollable oil lust..

economic development and progress will need energy, whether oil or coal or something else. And exploring any of those will result in such events once in a while - ***** happens.
It will be unfortunate if this event slows down oil explorations in US. Hopefully, economics will overrule any short term emotions.

i was but a sprog at that time, so hadnt heard of that before..

just read it all and im appaulled. id like to say that im also shocked but id bet this sort of thing has happened far more many times than anyone would like.

thank you for bringing that to my attention..

That is so sad :'( I can just imagine BP aren't going to give a damn about this, instead they'll have their accountants on 24-hour standby, constantly updating the accounts.

Those pictures are heart breaking. Once again innocent animals suffering at the hand of humans.

Funny how we never see this on the news, only things like "BP announce a record loss of 84 billion and shares dropping to an all time low"
