Walter do you have the original size Jpeg you can give us? If we try & work on the shot you've posted it will be very tough & will not get very good end results.

Also can you give us a day/time when you will closing entries?

in a bit of a pickle at mo, john had to do recovery on pooter, loading stuff back on now,
will call this tomorrow 4-30pm will be sharp as going out

PE10 Cropped, Cloned out the rest of the footpath preferring grass, Made grass greener and put in new 'bluer' sky.

Into LR4 with minimal fiddle with slider but with lots of individual brushed areas to get: catapult more sat & sharper, background trees out of shadow & more variation with colouring by getting red/orange in, foreground riverbank shrubs more colour in with red/orange, river get more blue in & light sharpen but selectively as very easy to overdo it at this image size.

If I'm chosen double 'milk' chocolate biscuits is my bribe

Yeah! John very well done and a very nice edit it is too!! :)

So I wonder what is going to be next ?
Cathy

I thought how much like a 1960s image that I might have taken.

Open web image in ACR, no adjustments, open in PS.
Copy layer.
New layer, Remove object from foreground left using content aware fill. Reconstruct the bottom of the post. Add a blue grad at 50% from the top, to top of rushes then change the blend mode to darken.
Flatten.
Convert to mono.
New layer, add 45% black grads from the top to footbridge and from the bottom up to mans arms. Play with opacity until happy.
On picture layer, dodge the projectile? In addition, the highlights on the man, doing the same with the grass in front of him.
New layer, move to top of stack, add an Ilford FP4 grain and adjust opacity and levels to suit.
Flatten.
Select all, add border with stroke.
Save for web.

Feedback...

Right Buckfast Abbey not far from where I live - one inside,, & one outside, so take your pick either, or both, but I will judge on the first entered.

Click through on each of pics to get to full sized Jpeg.

Only RAW for one & if anyone has problems opening the RAW (as I did when I first bought this camera) I will get a DNG file up if you like.

I will close on 8.00 p.m. Sunday evening & put my winner up as soon after as I can. I think Walter's way of feedback on each one as its entered is a good idea for me to save me getting too 'befuddled' so will do it that way.

RAW for above

decided to go for the roof shot....

wanted to increase contrast, midtone contrast and was torn between colour and B&W.....

SO I converted to B&W with channel mixer to emphasis the contrast between the light and dark in the roof,
layered this at 50% opacity
and then upped the saturation to suit.
then decided actually to go b&W so B&W filter (green) in PIcasa.
high pass filter to sharpen.

Tried a number of things to correct for the fact you're not quite central, but couldn't pull it completely right.

15 mins feedback welcome...

Hands up! not too sure how to handle these two but went for the Abbey

PS new layer adjust shadows and highlights
Dodge Burn and clone out sign
Sharpen
Flatten and add border

TP%3DPP.jpg

Opened in ACR, auto, open in PS.
Copy layer.
Correct verticals with distort.
Remove tree trunk with content aware fill, reconstruct building with clone and fill, same with shadow,
Levels, dodge and burn.
Stroke for border.
Save for web.
Feedback OK.

ooops - do you think we all should have waited for johns feedback on the previous one before posting.... :naughty:

I forgot I was having my Flu jab first thing this morning & I always react to it & 'on cue' have this year - UGH. But I'll stop moaning & get on with it :suspect:

I hadn't done edits on either pic as I never felt the light at Buckfast Abbey has been very good despite having been there quite a few times. For the outside shot that is

The inside looked a candidate for a bit of HDR but the outside is a real challenge as I can't get my head around it & it's my shot

Neil this is up your edits at the best  A lot of details in the shadows & resisted the temptation to overdo the sharpening. Warm, similar to one of my edits but I have gone a bit more of the saturation but that is personal taste. I could do with a 'limiter' on my Sats slider. A good edit

Graham like Neil this is (as to be expected from you) a good edit with lots of shadows brought out of the details. It needed to have a B&W entry & I had tried B&W but needed a bit more work on it. I tried to get more central but I was in my wheelchair & there were others the same & I was finding myself in the way wherever I was on that day  But a good sound edit.

Walter a bit like me liking the saturation slider. As you say you've warmed it up & there is a distinctive 'painters type' of style to it - but which painter. A cheerful edit

Cathy you are brave taking on the outside shot which I feel to be more of a challenge than the inside one. I must admit I hadn't realised the original was rather soft until I looked earlier (my fault not yours). So well done for having a go but it was a tall order to salvage that much from it as the basics (my shot) is not great. But good try

Rhodese like Cathy you're a brave man for taking this one on as it comprises so many challenges & I'm not sure anyone could make it look that great. But I applaud you for having a go & trying different crop

Ben up to your usual standards of submitting good quality edits & I applaud your trying a square crop but must admit I'm not sure about its whiteness as I am, on this one, drawn to either colour or B&W. But thanks for having a go

Somehow managed to delete my edit, doh. It's back now

Sponner I am liking your edit as it is warm & you have brought the details out but I feel it could have taken a tad more sharpening. So a good edit

Anyone that gets an edit out of this is doing well. I've been trying for the past half an hour & 'thrown my toys out of the pram' as mine are all cr*p. I will look again tomorrow & may end up throwing even more 'toys out of the pram'
