THE PP GAME!

Sorry Phil, but this is the human race. You got all serious far too early in the thread, its too much of a temptation not to give you a bit of stick for it. You gave off bad vibes, and its cost you a bit of support here.

Lets forget about all that and concentrate on the purpose of this thread, I actually think this thread is a good idea, and look forward to being part of it, if its done right. So with that in mind, do you have any opinions regarding peoples submissions so far? You havent commented on any yet, let alone voted a winner. My vote (if i have one) goes to Kerioak.

:)

Agreed.

Well I was intentionally not giving comments because I didn't want to hedge anyone towards what I liked...but since you ask...

Wayne (swanseamale47) is leading the bunch ATM. The use of dramatic lighting is the potential I saw in this image and he's gone with it. I liked the B&W one done by istuff but it needed a little bit more work to be up there I think.

DEADLINE is 12am then I will be selecting a winner and the game will start again! I will now edit my version and put it up before selecting a winner soon.

I think im to tired for this one, ill join in the next time though
P.S
Sorry if you thought i was making fun of the thread, i agree its a good idea to have a serious and non serious one. But i have to say Andy's response was VERY funny :)

Jack

Phil I think your taking it a bit too seriously, I don't see your in a position to disqualify anything, this is a forum and your not a mod, I do see where your coming from but lighten up a bit and have some fun.

agree, lighten up,

may have a go tomorrow if Im not to late

Damn....I thought my detailed breakdown got my nose in front...

Oh well I've rolled out the big guns on this one......literally stretched GIMP to the next release.

I noticed you like mono, use of lighting and drama I present forthwith my most enlightened edit thus far.

If I don't win I promise not to annoy your thread anymore :D

*edit*....I deliberately killed that meerkat, I think they are overrated.

*edit2* ..that crowd on the other thread try and paste them into images to get cheap laughs...not me. I am now on a crusade against them. meerkats that is.

So you didnt like mine then:shrug:

;)

Better get mine in before announcing the winner...istuff I did like your edit, I felt it was a little bit lacking in the dramatics...but it did inspire me for my own edit so well done for that :)

Here's what I done:

1. Brought brightness down and used brush tool on the adjustment layer to mark out the land (so sky was exposed properly but leaving the land alone). Added contrast to this new “only sky layer”.
2. Done the same for land but increased brightness rather than reduce to enhance land this time.
3. Cloned out all lens flares.
4. Adjustment layer: selective colour. Reduced black in the white chanel to make clouds a bit more white to their edges. Used brush tool over the sun to decrease brightness made by taking the blacks from whites.
5. Used history brush (blend mode to multiply) tool to burn the mountain peaks. Played with opacity to get the right blend, this case was 35%
6. As above this time set the blend to screen to dodge the mountain greens.
7. Black and white adjustment layer increased the yellow and green channel to enhance brightness to the green land.

he'll disqualify it as its not a serious edit, he wants edits of the shot, not with added imaginative stuff IE not furry bunnies and merkats and signs you cant read

Dave mate, you remind me of that guy in the back of the pub when you go karaoke (every karaoke pub has at least one of these guys), the one that constantly slates everyone's singing but when he sings...it's barely passable as "ok". :):):)

Phil Mate, you remind me of someone who cant take a joke, Lighten Up, I wont be entering any of your challenges, I dont like your attitude, and I also think if your going to ask for serious edits you should supply a raw file not just a jpg that cant be manipulated that much, oh and by the way your right my singing is awful, good job my PPing skills are a lot better

I think you need to 'lighten up'...

I still think if this is going to be serious the person posting the image should give some idea of what they have in mind, ie if a landscape is going to be in black and white then everyone should aim for the same so that we can all see the results of different techniques going towards the same end ?

I see what you're saying...but everyone etl see the potential of the image differently. Part of this challenge is to see what different ways there are to pp one image.

I dont, I think people will see differently, may limit creativeness,

AndyB1976-- sitting here pmsl.... at your edits nice one mate

and to Phil Young- Lighten up a bit and i'm sure your thread will work.

On the other thread i have been on it for a few months now and never really did much PP before i joined it and to be honest the stuff i learned and still learning is great yeah we have some really funny edits and some serious one's.

Hope your thread goes well and i may actually join in but it should really be up to the person who posts the image what kind of edit they are looking for out of it maybe they dont want it to be too serious.

lighten up phil, lifes to short,
there is room for both threads,
i am new to digital photography, and editing when i went on HOW TO EDIT THREAD and saw what was achievable i thought wow, if you look at thread no one can deny there are some cracking edits on there, i have learn heaps on there,
i took son and grandkids ten pin bowling saturday took three different pics and made composite, put on disc, then in to boots for paper,
most of it learned from this site,

Think your missing the point Phil wants serious PPig of shots, he means like WB hacking, Toning, Mono, warming, cooling, grads, vignettes, textures, and other creativeness.

He doesnt want things like foreign objects, adding, so dont add meerkats, rabbits angels, fairies, cars, sign posts, flying saucers, or composites and the like,

In other words work with the image thats given, here I added a texture and used a watercolour action I made, and to simulate what it would look like on a canvass

hope Ive got your idea right Phil, sure you'll tell me if Ive not

Everyone is saying lighten up but I don't know why. I can take a joke a much as the next person, in person I do way too much joking for most peoples liking.

It's just annoying to ask for serious editing and all I get back is a load of stick...

I don't see why, if people don't want to join in they don't have to, I don't go to other peoples threads making fun of them our causing arguments.

Tbh, frankly I find some of the comments a bit rude and uncalled for.

I just wanted to see some talent and not for this thread to be turned into a joke, then the first post I get is a sily one.

The thing is I really enjoyed the other one, then it got a bit silly and then suddenly every post was a joke and I didn't enjoy it anymore and certainly stopped learning. Apparently from this thread, I'm not the only one that felt that way.

It's not a case of me needing to lighten up, I made the thread for a reason and I hoped to get people posting that want to share their talent, not show us the next jim carey.

Thanks Phil.
Ok heres one for you, it's one of a set originally shot for a HDR, I choose a trickier one to make it a bit more of a chalenge.

(can't get it any bigger in flickr for some reason)

Here's a go, I've also posted the layers palette.

Out of interest could you attach the other 2 for the HDRI if you still have them :P?

straighten and clone out 1 or 2 twigs, burn in the sky in ps,
take to LR adjust exposure,
sharpen and go ott with noise reduction to get the soft-focus look,
finally, vignetting to give the wedding venue brochure (well i think so) look.

Great efforts so far guys

Heres my effort

Sudo HDRI from the one file processed as two different images, then the two images combined, lowered the greens, reds, created by the HDRs, cloned out the cars/ and the blob/whatever it was bottom right, also the tree branches/leaves on the top right, and one chimney, bit of burning and dodging, and perspective transform

ok taking in the spirit of things:) here is my serious go...Started with levels then edited in new clouds, cloned out part of the tree, flattened the image then changed to black and white then added contrast and brightness then I did a high pass filter then added warm glow...I think.;)

These edits are awesome  maybe even slightly arousing

started with levels, added grass via layers and using rubber tool, then converted to infared effect, then added photo filter warming filter 85 adjusted the density then selected the sky and changed the colour and cloned out a few bits and bobs, really great efforts from all so far.
dave the cloning of the cars must of took some work.

Cracking edits above so thought I'd have a go. A little tree removal, Adjustments such as curves, hue/sat, contrast and brightness, overlays, underlays, new tarmac... i sound like a bleeding rogue trader! Tried to clone the cars but completely failed so bought in the rain for distraction. :bonk:
