Have any of you fine folk registered for a pro ticket yet? If so, is it your impression that the ticket will be sent in the post or are passes collected on entry by quoting the registration number?

I received mine as an email image to print off before arrival ;)

I've received the email too which I took to be a "proof copy" of what the actual pass will look like, as it says "when produced." I have to say there is a distinct lack of clarity.

Ah, haven't read it since to be honest, if I remember correctly I did read that it would arrive in the post in the new year?

Thanks Dave. I've no doubt all will become clear in time.

Thanks Joe.

in past years at the NEC focus on, you just give the reference number at the desk where they scan the bar code and they'll let you in :)

Yes I have been to several of the Focus shows. It was just the wording of the email from the new set up that puzzled me. Mind you, puzzlement comes easy to me!

I have my free ticket I will probably go on the Monday.....:)

mmmm ... love a free ticket!!! ... how do i get one without smashing somebody over the head and stealing it? ;)

You need to register as a retailer or professional. At first they said I didn't qualify but on second inspection I did. I think it was because I was in mid update of website is the only reason I could think of

A very different organisation now running the show.... so don't rely on anything you did at the old shows!

That was the point of my OP. There are still no clear explanation as to how we use our tickets, free or otherwise. I have been to a totally different (non-photography) show run by this set up a few years ago, and it was not a great success. I hope this isn't going the same way.

For those of you unaware the UK's largest photo show - The Photograhy Show - will be held at the NEC Birmingham for four days from Saturday 1st March until Tuesday 4th March. This is the hoped for replacement for Focus on Imaging and many will be pleased to see that 'our annual photo show' will continue, albeit in a new format with a new company taking it over, but there are some negatives.

The ticket prices are increasing to £15 for an adult if bought on the day at the show, this is quite a hefty increase from £12 at Focus on Imaging. Advance online ticket purchase can save adults a few quid, furthermore there are discounts for over 60's, students and children up to age 16.

You can check out further details by searching for The Photography Show 2014 with the search engine of your choice, incidentally I have no connection with the show company/organisers in any way. If this new show is as good as the old one, and the exhibitors list suggests it should, it will be worth pencilling in the date in your diaries.

Hope this is of some interest, cos' there's only 45 days to go (I counted ...!!!).

Bill :)

I just ordered tickets for me and my mate this morning. We're going on the Saturday and traveling on the train from Euston as we managed to get £15 return tickets!

There is already a thread about this event

It's not my intention to pinch anyone's thread Munch, I'm just trying to inform those interested or perhaps those unaware of the more expensive tickets etc, compared to Focus on Imaging. I don't think anyone else has mentioned this (apologies if I've missed it ;)).

The Focus on Imaging show catalogue was free, The Photography Show catalogue is a whooping £5.00 at the door on the day (n) More details http://www.photographyshow.com/

It works out a pretty expensive day now when you consider NEC parking was if I remember correctly £8.00 last year, and then there's always the fuel considerations (gee whizz - sounds like I'm talking myself out of visiting ...)

Bill :)

That's if the place is still open in a months time.
Recent news of Birmingham CC possibly selling up isn't too rosy :(

Of course it will still be open, suggesting that the NEC would suddenly close based on nothing more than talk about a possible future sale is just ridiculous.

I'm looking forward to the show. We'll be exhibiting there of course, our lighting equipment has been chosen to be the official equipment used at the show and we're also giving demonstrations on the big stage.
I think that their website is a bit of a mess, they need to improve it, and improve their communications, but the feeling I have, from talking to some of the people involved in the management,is that everything is being done very professionally and as a result it will be a much better show for visitors, with far more to see and take part in.

Well, you don't need to buy a catalogue if you don't want to. My guess is that very few people will in fact buy them, and they'll end up being given away:)

I just booked a ticket to the show and as one of the (probably) few people who read the small print, I noticed in the "Terms and conditions" to which I had to agree, the following exclusion (my emphasis):
"Unauthorised flyering or bannering, use of photographic and/or any other type of recording equipment at the Event is prohibited. Tapes, or films or other recordings
may be destroyed."
I thought this was a rather strange limitation for a photographic show.

I too read that but as I said in an earlier post, I have attended one of their former non-photography shows, and those terms and conditions appear to be a straight crib from that earlier show. The whole set-up seems to me to have the air of rushed organisation. I hope this show will be an improvement over the former show I attended.
