The Photography Show 2015

£10 quid to park all day. It's dead cheap. Can't believe anyone moans about the parking. that's 3hours in Oxford less in London.
car share and £2.50 each or a bag of Jelly Babies
As for getting in.
I'd pay if there was not a free entrance.
£18 well worth it....
Can't believe the moaning about costs.
Either go or don't.

Hi Br

Is this still the case?

Hi Brian,
Currently yes but then pre reg was stronger for Saturday last time out too and we had 1,000 more people on the Sunday.
I don't think there will be much in it so work out the day that suits you best.

Jonny

Thanks for the post Daryl. I have to say (as you might expect) that I think it the entrance fee is fully justifiable when you look at how much free content is lined up at the show. We had 496 different activities last year of which 450+ were free. Those things that we charge for (i.e. the super stage speakers) is often to manage any queuing issues we might have. That said, we also appreciate that some people operate their hobby on a different budget and try and lessen the pain where we can. An example of this is the Virgin trains discount of 25% whereas unfortunately we have little jurisdiction over the NEC parking.

Got my pass through in the post today, with a voucher for a free cuppa and show guide.

Although whoever designed the voucher needs to have another look at them lol the rears are round the wrong way

Beyond the control of the Show Organisers, but the cost of the 25% Virgin Rail discounted tickets has increased from my location (Nr Chester), by a figure of 25%! It's now the same price as travelling from Wrexham and purchasing a normal advance ticket. Visitors yet to arrange rail travel would be wise to check all options and routes.

Hi Jonny. I have booked and remember sending an email asking if I could have a floor plan so we could plan rather than wander... I am pretty convinced I emailed you but don't think I've had anything back. Could you post your address again, please- it isn't in post 102. Thanks

Virgin tickets are cheap at £7.50 each way from London, (cheaper still if you travel at unearthly hours and first class is good) but as a normal punter you can get much the same standard fares, booking through other operators too!

I assume we aren't having a meeting point for a lunch/chat???...or have I missed it?...perhaps Jonny could point us in the direction of the best one near the hall???....

A good place to meet is under the big screen in the entrance. There is a Wetherspoons near Hall 5 but this year we have a lot more catering and seating at the back of the hall. Hope that helps.

Jonny sent you PM with my ref numbers on. I have received one pass twice and for some reason company name is wrong and details there in.

I have 3 staff and it seems all have same ref number with different prefix.
Might have been a glitch when signing on.........
Regards
Daryl
I'll check it out.

It's far from cheap although not what I'd call extortionate. I can park in London for £4 a day at the weekend. Conversely a few hours in the Mailbox in Birmingham will cost you a tenner.

In order of 'busyness' last year:
Monday
Sunday
Saturday
Tuesday

Looking at registration currently we think that Saturday may be busier than Sunday. If you want to avoid the crowds then Tuesday is bar far the best day to come.
Average length of visit to the 2014 show was 6.5 hours so pretty much a full day.

Hope that helps Chris.

Monday busier than the weekend?! How does that work?

Hmm, was contemplating taking a day off and going on Mon/Tue as I figured both would be far quieter than the weekend. Sounds like Tue might still be but wondering if I'll miss out on any freebies :)

Freebies, your having a laugh. You may pick up a pen and a boiled sweet if you're lucky, don't expect anything worth having !

Yep - caught us by surprise too and it wasn't even close (7000 on Sat 8000 on Sun and 10000 on Mon!!). Pro photographers are often working the weekend so they tend to come on Monday/Tuesday..

hi Daryl
I sent the query to the reg team yesterday lunchtime. As soon as I hear back I'll let you know. We will get it sorted don't worry.
Jonny

Wondering if there'll be any vendors offering double-cashback like last year. Might pick up a 6D if so :)

These things tend to be under wraps until the show but I don't think you will be disappointed in the prices :-)

Well if I can nab a 6D for sub-£1k I'm sold :)

Just registered, haven't been to any kind of large show in years so I'm quite looking forward to this.

Not sure if I'll stay in Birmingham for a second day but we shall see.

Thanks Simon. There is an absolute ton of stuff on at the show if you are tempted to stay over.

Hmmm... Decisions on if I should go or not. I'm actually after a peli case at the moment does anyone think there's the right retailers there for one?

Check out the Peli cases online... Then see if any of the dealers are going to be there on the list of exhibitors?

Calumet are there so they might have a few. I might be tempted to go, might sneak a 7D2 in there while I'm there too :P

I'm going on Saturday wanted to go on Tuesday but work commitments mean its not possible.

I've started making a list of things to look out for. And there a couple of the free talks I want to see/hear

You will find Tuesday won't be as busy as Saturday. Don McCullin is speaking on the Super Stage too. Hope you enjoy your visit.
