The BBC1 show "The One Show" had a few minutes about how to take the perfect wildlife photo.

Sorry, but did you see the first image of the Blue Tit (I think it was)...? It was a poor image, focussed on the rear tail feathers. The head, beak and eyes were out of focus, and it lacked clarity in my opinion. I have seen far better images on here yet the so called expert said it was an excellent image..!!!

I know I saw those too haha. They were poor compared to what I have seen here.

When they mentioned about taking shots of insects, I didn't hear the word "macro" used at all.

The squirrel was alright I thought.

"Try to focus on the species’ most striking feature e.g. its jewelled wings or bright spots"

Hmmm, i reckon focusing on the eye ....

I like the shot marked up as a wasp in the "your wildlife photography" and it's clearly a fly :D You would think they would have some experts pointing out simple mistakes like this.

not always.
Depends what you are trying to achieve.

Taking a 'rule of thumb' and applying it to everything all the time is not a good way at all. We'll all be wearing uniforms next.
