The olympic events thread

Bad joke maybe?

The Brit who got gold in the trap shooting said he missed his 2nd last shots because he thought it'd be boring to watch if he won to easily. Lol

(that one was a joke obviously)

I hope it was a joke, hard to tell with the Germans :D Hoy was nervously smiling!

It would seem crazy to admit to faking a mechanical problem.

Getting bored with Phelps and the starry stripes.

what did Pendleton do exactly? Haven't seen it and please explain in simple terms.

there's a "changeover box" where the second rider has to be within when they overtake the leadout. Before or after the box, and you're DQ'ed, and Princess Pendleton went too early.

The 2nd rider took the lead slightly early.

I think they said it's a new rule since the last Olympics that the change over has to happen within a set area of the track.

Ta. Just seen it on the 10 o clock news...

That was impressive....didn't know which event to watch :clap::clap:

I saw a quote somewhere talking about the 'wall-to-wall' coverage of the Olympics that compared it to being at a really good house party. No matter how good a time you are having you always think it might be better in another room!

Jess Ennis was unbelievable this morning. That time would have won her gold in the 100m hurdles individual event in Beijing!

That's how the BBC are covering it too, chopping and changing all the time, their coverage of the games has been a disgrace.

I was watching GB in the basketball score 40-42 with 4 mins to go, but they turned that off for a 20min chat in the studio, then in the canoe slalom semis, we saw the first 12 paddlers but they again switched so we missed the last 3 (and the best seeded)

Just seen the heptathlon shot putt, we saw Enis and her main rivals, but what about Katrina Johnson-Thompson the other GB girl nothing. Now we have a what to watch out for in the stadium and a film of past highlight, but I want to see the events going on NOW.

Like millions of other I don't have sky or cable, so stuck with the crap BBC coverage, for me the BBC are ruining the whole olympics.

You only have 3 choices even with the Red ( 4 in the evening)

Also I don't understand why they sometimes have the same thing on Red as on BBC1, as everyone in the UK now has digital no need to double up.

Why are they not using BBC Parliament as another channel, instead of just shutting it off for the games, or are they very limited to bandwidth on freeview.

I get the feeling they spent so much money on getting a prime location for the studio, that they want to use it all the time no matter what.

Best results so far was the Gold and Silver in the Slalom C2, so totally unexpected.

Unfortunately everyone at the BBC seems to think the same, maybe we should restrict all BBC presenters to freeview only.

lots of medals from the "sitting down events" that we seem to excel at :-)

Another gold for the Womens Team pursuit - and 6 consecutive world records in their last 6 rides... Phenomenal!

We seem to do well at the events not many countries can afford to participate in.

WoooHoo......GO MO!!!!

Awesome 3 wins! :D

Really glad Mo got gold. Saw him on the cube a while ago and he seemed like a really nice guy.

Unbelievable day...this is why I love sport so much!

I wasn't up for the games at all...but currently I'm loving it.
Just get a bit carried away with the crowds reactions!

And he came up with the "M" over his head to celebrate, on A League of Thier Own...too funny.

Greg Rutherford, these are the wins that make the games for me, Jess and Mo were expected to win (still great achievements) but it's the totally unexpected medals that make the magic moments in my mind.

Yes the wins do make it, but it is also about the hard work, dedication and the will to excel at what they do. On average there is a 1% difference from being first or last. Sport does bring people together, and the crowd support has been fantastic. Oh! for a TP Olympics  Does anybody know what the official Dummy spitting record is :D We could also have throwing the Jaffa so long as Yv is kept away from them before the event :suspect:
