Yes
I figured we had a thread for the ceremony so we probably need one to discuss the build up and results of the events.

So disappointed for Cavendish. A 5 man team was never enough to close the gap. The laziness of the other nations in the peloton really condemned the whole chase to fail which is a great shame. Big congratulations to Kazakhstan and Vinokourov for a great win!

Have to agree with you on that

I spent all day in Richmond Park. With 15 km to go, they were 55 seconds behind.
Peleton did appear to be going for it, and as usual Team GB looked like they were doing the hard work.
Crowds were great in the park, Police motor cyclists were having a, good day, one was high fiving everyone on his side.

Given that GB were favourites, & that Cav said they knew they wouldn't get any help from the pelaton, I'm surprised thet didn't go with the break.

Had to feel sorry for Cavendish, though. And the effort put in by the team was admirable.

And we're off!

Really feel for Cavendish and the team. It's a real pity team politics can affect a race so much.

Adlington in final of 400m freestyle at 2018 this evening - she qualified 8th of 8 so an outside medal chance it seems.

And Nicole Cook and Lizzie Armitstead curently on the road race, finishing 4ish.

Is Murray playing this afternoon?

Our first medal - a silver for Lizzie!

My legs are acheing just watching.

Murray is on now. He's winning 1 set to 0 and is a break up in the 2nd set.

Agree so much, it was team GB pulling the whole group near as makes no difference all the sodding time :bang:

If a few others had stepped up to the mark the Pelaton would have easily closed the gap.

I am impressed by the BBC's 24 extra digital channels covering all the arenas simultaneously!

It means that earlier this morning I saw the blind Korean archer who's the amazing World's No. 1 and right now I'm watching the lady weightlifters' snatch! :D

No it's not, it's a bronze, such a shame, truly gutted for them.

Mens gymnastics had as much drama and emotion as can ever be found at the Olympics, and was fascinating stuff! Incredible Bronze Medal

Looking forward to the equestrian again tomorrow and the womens gymnastics.... leaving him to enjoy the archery and ehem.... events at horse guards *rolleyes*

Had the Cross Country on at work and was watching it with a colleague who is very much into horses. Then the girlies came over and switched it over to the diving so they could watch Tom Daley.

I was out voted by my colleague as he was quite happy to watch the budgie smuggling (his words).

I've got a physio appointment tomorrow afternoon so I'll probably miss the finish of the show jumping! :bang:

I agree it is absolutely disgraceful, but i am curious as to why it is a police matter?

Indeed.... it is dangerously close to thought crime. The guy deserves all the humiliation he then received for such malicious comments, but a police matter? Hmmmm, I am not so sure....

As for today, equestrian on atm while I do some admin stuff, but going to have to miss some of the gymnastics, got a small shoot later, but crossing my fingers the girls do well and the buzz created by the boys inspires them to great performances. Go GIRLS!!

malicious remarks on the internet will get you in bother with the boys in blue these days.

From BBC:-
A 17-year-old boy was arrested at a guest house in the Weymouth area on suspicion of malicious communications.

An awesome performance from the Team GB women's volleyball squad yesterday saw them beat African champions Algeria. These girls have fought tooth and nail to even get here (they don't get lottery funding) so this win is even more remarkable. Well done girls!

Lol Ian.
It was a nightmare for them wasn't it Neil - although well done Team Eventing. Silver medal.
