The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

Yep. But what would you buy?

Worth an enquiry for sure!

Have been looking at the em-5. Can't afford / justify the 1. My concern is Motorsport focussing as they're known for not being as good as DSLRs - even though that's only 2 or 3 times a year, I'd be annoyed to lose the ability

The 5 is dirt cheap at hdew and the GX7 even more so!

As for the AF, the 1 has PD aswell as contrast, but according to Mr. Wong in his and Mr. C's comparison between the GX7 and the EM-1 on YouTube it makes hardly any difference at all.

its not easy to get right, I've been using slrs/dslrs for about 30 years and I've barely begun learning, its amazing the little xf1 copes so well, again well done good job

TBH, it has coped better than my old Sony a37 and Nikon D7000 did... Maybe the IQ isn't quite a match but the actual ease of this camera makes up for it i think. It has handled the highlights and these were JPEG's too! I could have sworn i changed it back to RAW but obviously i didn't which is a bit of a bummer imo. :( It is DEFINITELY set back to RAW now as i have checked and double checked!

spot on, there so easy to use. its a b****r if you forget that:D

Just wondering now how different they could have been in RAW...

One thing i have noticed is that when doing the in camera panorama's is that the camera smudges detail to buggery. :(

Need to have a go at doing them in portrait for more detail, but i can't remember how the other members said to do them... @Nod @Rhodese

Or have a go at stitching them.

stitch in Photoshop , its way better and easy.

ace shot.
and if the 100s is anything like the 100 there great cams to use. but that Sony mk111 does look interesting,

Thanks Nik. :) I can't take the cred, I stole the idea from @mattd85 I just hope i've done it justice. Was literally a spare of the moment thing all done in about 2 seconds. Lol.

It is an ace looking camera, but I could do with something with a filter thread. Although I seem to remember seeing something that fitted on its lens to enable this?

It doesn't have the character of a Fooj though.

Money money money....I'll look after it for you until you decide what to do

Indeed it is. As nice as other stuff is, I'm concerned it'd be the start of another wallet bashing

Yes, I wanted it to stand out a bit more from the r8 so applied a slight blur.

The r8 always runs a go pro - it sounds insane too

How are you lot getting so close with Macro?

I'm using an X10, then try super macro/macro.. It won't AF when I start to zoom in slightly.. it only focuses when pretty wide, and I move the lens cloooooser to the subject.

Is this just how it is?

mine are taken on wide, no zoom. it maximises the light as well as closer focus

hi joe I don't have an x10 anymore. I have a xf1 this does not have super macro as far as I am aware. but most of these super modes are done digitally so you can achieve a similar or sometimes better result just cropping the image, my shot of the fly is un-cropped as I wanted to leave the fern leading into the shot but there's plenty of scope for cropping in tighter
