The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

So good you said it twice. Yep, I've been wanting toshoot poppy fields too but this year they seem to be few and far between around us... last year it was snided with them after the rape had done. My usual one has gone so I need to look further a (poppy!) field. ;)

b*****ks. The forum moaned when I posted it first time. >_<

Poppies you say

field of blood

Was on the way to a meeting in Sutton Coldfield last week when I saw these out of the corner of my eye as I nipped down a lane. Quick reverse, snap, back through the gate and off I go:exit:

Lovely.

I drove past a field of what I think were white poppies on Saturday morning (near Henley), but I also live close enough to Winchester/Alresford so there's a couple of locations there I can try. Quite late, and I have no idea if I'll find anything but if nothing else I can scout the locations and set a reminder for earlier in the year next year. ^_^

Loving the web and the damsel (dragon?) fly.
Thanks.
The web came about when I was shaping some timber with the router. The webs got coated with sawdust so I thought it might come out well in a picture.

I used sunset mode to capture 4 images, if I use the panoramic mode the image is washed out.

histograms can never be more than a guide... in the case of most small cameras, I have never found a luminance only histogram to be a problem. But then I do not push my exposures to the extreme right.

What the article is showing here ( Clipping of a single channel) Is what colour film printers in the 1950 called colour failure. It often became obvious when shooting bright red tulips, or the like, when virtually all the detail and modelling was lost in a solid lump of colour.

It is not a new problem, but one that was there from the earliest days of colour photography.

It would be nice to have the option of a full range Histogram, but it is in no way vital.
As Fuji sensors have a different arrangement and relative number of RGB pixels, their display as a histogram might look somewhat different to the representation of the same scene on another camera.
Thanks for the explanation Terry, I think I'm probably just getting ahead of myself and should stop worrying about too much technicality on these cameras.

Not a happy bunny
After 2 weeks just had a e-mail from Fuji saying they are waiting for spare parts for my xf1... so hell knows when I will get it back

Wow, the Moths are pretty cool! Can't say i have ever seen one.

Definitely seen the last one though. And looking like that too! The first Dorey picture is ace! :D

Here's one from yesterday, managed to forget the memory card :wacky: so had to switch to JPEG so i could get 5 shots on the internal memory. How i hate JPEG. :sulk:Slight edit in Lr and imo it's fell to bits. Nevermind.

Summer Fun

Well seeing as i was off work today, i thought i would go for a ride into Derbyshire. Typical that the weather has turned and decided to chuck it down for most of the day but i didn't let it stop me. Made for some good exposure times for the kind of thing i was aiming for.

So, armed with my XF1 and my little Manfrotto Pixi i set about photographing some waterfalls.

Here are some of the results. :)

a couple of your waterfall shoots are absolute crackers mate well done getting out there, how do you find that Manfrotto Pixi ?

Imagine how good they'd be with an Em10...

The Pixi is a cool tool, but it doesn't turn portrait so for a few i wanted to compose in a portrait orientation i had to find a suitable surface and lay it down sideways. It works well if you use two of the legs and the side of the camera. Does that make sense?

Here's one more...

Excellent stuff mate!! Where in derbys ?

Lumsdale Falls inbetween Tansley and Matlock. It's well hidden but have been there a few times for this kind of stuff. There were two togs there doing a shoot with a young woman too. Lol. The other shots were took at Monsal Dale looking down the valley and then the hillside shot was taken on the way back from Buxton into Bakewell. The panoramic shot was took at the top of Riber.

I had my D7000 on my back all the way around and the missus was carrying the tripod but never used them. Food for thought...

This is exactly my dilemma, even to the point that I nearly fired off an enquiry to mpb today for my Nikon stuff

Hi David, I like all of your waterfall shots very much and as Nik said a couple of them are "Crackers". Thanks for showing them to us. (y)

Hi David, For me #3, #6, and closely followed by #7.

we shall see what I can do with the om10 hopefully:p:D

same here really, I like the comp on 5 but the lighting not the greatest in my humble opinion.

Thanks both, good to know so i can improve for next time.

Yes, i agree that 5 does look under exposed now i look at it. Had to shoot with 1 or 2 stops of -ev to try and cull the highlights being blown from the water.
