The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

The tail is a goat's. They leave the end on so customers know it's a goat not a lamb. They leave the feet on the rabbits too, probably so you can see it's not cat.

Have you actually tried goat? Similar to lamb but more flavour. As for rabbit...

Is there any reason why the raynox has no effect on the XF1 at all? It works with my Canon 450d and mt Lumix fz28 perfectly well yet nothing I do can get it to work on the XF1. Let me explain. It seems to cause absolutely no magnification of any kind on this camera.

Any clues why this would be?

That's come out well, David. I assume there was plenty of light around at half 5 so you did well

It was just right mate. The camera metered on the bridge though and blew the sky hence the crop but it gave me an exposure of 20 seconds which is good. Will have to try it again with the tripod and see if metering on the sky or framing without the sky give a better result. Pretty happy though with my rewards.

David,

I like the long exposure one. I tried one last week of a small fountain near work but it was over exposing.

Did you shoot your one in manual or av mode?

Thank you

Cheers. It was done in aperture priority mode. Not very often I use manual mode, I doubt I'd get many keepers. Lol.

Thanks. Will give it another go this week.

Like the first one but what has happened to the second ? I assumed it was at a horrible ISO but it's at 100. Has flickr done you a mis-service ?

Thank you. Learning the limitations yet brilliance of this camera very quickly. In my dream world I want a longer zoom perhaps 8 to 10x rather than 4 but with the same quality throughout the zoom range. Would like manual focusing like the HS50 my mate has. Also would love at least 2.8 aperture at the zoom end. Add to that, a physics breaking full frame sensor and keep it the same size as it currently is then it would be the perfect camera.... Oh and no price increase either. :)

So now that I am getting an insight into what it can do with zero post work other than cropping I need to now think what is needed most of the time to boost the photos.

Lots more experimenting to come.

I find that adding in some of the 'white' or 'fill flash' in PP really helps to boost images. It makes them pop. The RAW files from it are pretty pliable but if you push them too far then they do start to fall apart a little so finding where that level is is key.

Your 'ideal' camera sounds like many of ours too.

well my xf1 has arrived:cool::D, charged battery overnight. just got to find some time to play! must find my way round the setting as well.

Hello David, I haven’t commented on the little X thread for a while, but I have been lurking.
This poppy picture has a great deal of promise. I love it.

Not wanting to teach my grandmother to suck eggs but you have had a go at cloning, was it the pylon and cables? Then, using your words, failed.
Well “I think” and I know how dangerous that can be, you didn’t fail you gave up.
Cloning is all about patience, do a bit, leave it, go back and do a bit more.
Use all the tools at your disposal brushes, clone, content aware, cut and paste, patch, everything you can lay your hands on.
You don’t have to do it all at once, a picture can take time, take it.

I have taken the liberty of completing the cloning. I hope you don’t mind.
I just thought it deserved a bit of time.

Rhodese.

Lol, no it wasn't the pylon, but thanks anyway.

It was the seed head the right of the flower but having looked at it I didn't mind it being left there. The pylon didn't bother me too much. What I'd done was clone the flower head and Lightroom mis-aligned the wires and I didn't notice until uploaded hence me removing it and posting the original.

The XF1 and case are sitting patiently boxed up by my desk. Promised my daughter I'd let her open it! >_<

A bit of goooooooogling has told me that the X30 is supposed to be coming the 3rd of July and will feature a 1" sensor amongst other 'core upgrades'... and it will be cheaper than the Sony.

Hmmm... looks like I'm holding out for a little longer.

BIG savings on the X20 at Currys. Normal selling price £349.99, clearance price £349.97. Get yourself down there and make the most of the 2p saving!!

Just had to check that out myself, and yes while other Cameras on the page show savings anywhere from £10 to over £100, the X20 shows a 2p saving ! I suppose I could walk to Currys to buy the X20, I would probably save about £2 not using my petrol doing it that way !

Looks like a big drop is on the way for the X20
