The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

I've taken nearly 1000 so far.... ( all of them fabulous as you can imagine ...)

Those Egypt shots are beautiful

Also loving the dog!!

Fingers and toes tightly crossed the x10 seller in the classifieds gets online soon! Mum's cancer is back - my sister and nephew are flying over on Wednesday for what could be the last time she sees my nephew. I've never been without a camera at a more vital time :coat:

Camera will be with me in time (y) Small mercies..

And so it's not all doom and gloom, have another x10 oldie - shame the focus is off!

Toni that's a cracking portrait. (y).
Toni, I don’t think the image is out of focus, it’s more a case of being thin as in no depth to the colour or contrast.
As you have image editing ticked, I have taken the liberty of a simple levels adjustment, nothing else.
I hope you don’t mind. :).

That definitely looks a hell of a lot better!

The edited out radiator with my aunts knickers drying on it doesn't look so obvious in your edit as it does in mine either  :D

Where are you, Toni? (Maybe someone could lend you a camera of some sort just in case yours isn't back in time.)

Prefer the original if I'm honest. I'm a big fan of soft muted blacks so the PP works... for me.

Shame you removed the knickers though! ;)

He's a cool looking dog too. If you're near Nottinghamshire then you welcome to borrow my xf.

I'll tell her you said that David... but leave out calling her a him ;) And I'm sure my old aunt will be thrilled you want to see her knickers! Haha ;)

The camera is being sent RSMD next day on Monday morning so should be with me Tuesday. It's not needed till Wednesday, though. Thanks for the offer! Even if I am all the way up in bloody Edinburgh

A bit too far for me to drop up a loaner!

Fingers crossed.

:P Her name's Lily and she's the soppiest baby I've ever met! The big brute likes to curl up on my (pregnant, 5ft 2") lap!

I’m likin them portraits David.
The second one is one of those images that compel the viewer to look into the eyes.
I think it being a bit high key and the darkness of the spectacles and eyes draw your gaze, nice one.

So my X10 arrived today from Amazon but it has a 2 pin charger, so I have no way of charging the battery:mad:. Has anyone else had this problem ? Off to contact Amazon customer services.

Just ordered an X10 last night from Amazon so hopefully it will be here this weekend . So now I need some advice on which case and filter adapter to go for.
Love the Kelpies shot Leslie.

Hi there, johnjess. You might want to check the obligatory "bight". Look for adapter ring or step-up ring for fuji x10; they're between a fiver an 15 quid usually. The original Fuji is a lot more expensive. Personally, I've got a 40mm-52mm step-up ring which is working great in combination with my Hoya 52mm UV filter (just as a permanent lens protector, as I don't use a lens cap).

Cases are too many to go through. I've got a LowePro Apex 60AW: snug fit, takes 2 extra batteries, a few memory cards, and has an all-weather cover, just in case.

Enjoy you new camera!

Hi robenroute thanks for the repy. I have looked at adapters , the ones that look like a lens hood , and wondered if once you put them on the camera they have to stay on
the camera , or can you have them on/off as required ?

I had looked at the LowePro Apex 60AW as I saw it recommended elsewhere. Must admit I like the quality of Lowepro's bags so that may be the one for me.

Have to say the camera itself is a thing of beauty!

Hi Andy, I enjoyed the pictures on flickr.
There’s some good stuff in your collection, and so many cameras.
I particularly liked the X20 ones but then I would.
The “Dexter” shots are my favourites is he a Spaniel ?

Rhodese.

Thanks

I've had quite a few cameras as you can see!!! But not now planning to change for a while.

Dexter is a very lively sprocker spaniel pup who has loads of energy!!!

...and wondered if once you put them on the camera they have to stay on the camera , or can you have them on/off as required ?

She's gorgeous, isn't she? Regarding the adapters: The one I have is a screw-on, simple closed step-up ring; I have no experience with other types. Mine is on there permanently, but I wouldn't want to screw it on and off constantly. It's just too fidgety. I also have a foldable rubber lenshood (screws onto the UV filter) that I only use under extreme conditions. Lens flare is well controlled on the X10, I hardly ever use the lenshood.

By the way, get yourself 1 or 2 extra batteries, no-names will do nicely; the "river" has plenty of suppliers listed for them. They cost a few quid and are indispensable during a long day of shooting (or when using the flash extensively).

Found a cracked egg on our doorstep. The little one was squirming on the wet cobblestone, so we decided to take it in and see whether it would survive. It was far too young and premature to have hatched. Wrapped it in cotton fluff and an old tee. Survived for two days... Shame.

Johnjess, it is all pretty much what Rob has said I went for this type (not from Fuji).

If you have a look at the images, you will see that it’s in two parts.
The first part is a screw in filter holder with a 52mm step up, to which you add your 52mm filters, or further step up/down rings. Other options like the Cokin filter system for scapes, grads and the like to balance sky/sea/land are easily fitted.
The adaptor will also accept clip-in or screw caps and hoods; hoods do intrude on the viewfinder as with all rangefinder type cameras.
The second part of the assembly is a screw on hood.

If you go to page one of this thread you will see a link to the old X10/20 thread, there you will find filter rings and lots of other X10/20 issues talked about.

Thanks Rhodese I will look at that later. I have a noob question now, where do I find RAW on the X10? I am obviously doing something wrong but I
can onlu find normal and fine. Where am I going wrong?

Thanks robenroute I have skimmed over them and they look like an interesting read. This is my first Fujifilm camera and one with
quite a steep learning curve! I think some time reading the manual and articles like the two you mentioned will help a lot. Thanks again

Did anyone manage to get any photos with their XF1 yesterday ( first day of June bright sunshine) ? The reason I ask is because both me and the missus struggled with the bright sunlight. We both took our Compacts to the park, hers the XF1 and mine the Panasonic TZ35. I could just about see the screen on mine, while the missus simply could not see the screen on hers. I could just about manage to make out the image on the LCD screen, but not read off any information. While the missus could not make out anything on her screen, we both used each other as models. We ended up with most missed focus, and body parts lopped off !
