The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

Agreed, very nice!

Well, I fired off a quick "first shot"... I'm pretty impressed. Even if I did have to fight the urge to lift it to my eye...

Is there an easier way to switch focal point position than going in through the menu?

So tempted to pick up the XF1 from http://shop.fujifilm.co.uk/fujifilm-xf1-refurbished.html when it comes in stock. How pocket-able is this camera over say a Canon PowerShot S120 which I had been considering as a family camera for times I don't want to lug around the DSLR gear. Is the auto mode friendly for handing over to novices? Anyone used the video mode? Is it an ok camera to capture kids?

I can't compare it to the Canon but it is very small. I also bought mine with shooting people in mind, predominantly my small nieces and nephews and my baby when she eventually arrives! I managed to get good shots of the toddlers with my x10 so can't imagine I'll struggle with this!

David, thank you!

Thanks David for your feedback on the XF1. Congratulations on your forthcoming baby. I am wanting to capture my newborn also when taking her for trips out in the pram and/or visiting family rather than drag the DSLR kit and turn it into some pro shoot. I also have fast moving nieces and nephews and want to capture the moments they interact with my baby so wanting something semi decent over my camera phone to preserve the memories.

@Eosai I would have thought the x10 has the miniature mode. Do you have Adv. On the dial? If so turn it to that then change it in the menu to miniature mode.

The XF1 is a great quality camera for just taking anywhere with you and kills any smart phone by far. Images are easily printable up to a3 if you so wish.

Even in the genuine Fuji case, the XF-1 slips neatly into most shirt pockets. In auto or EXR modes it's ideal for handing over to non photographers. Don't use mine for video - I have an old video camera for that (which sits unused in a cupboard!) Not perfect for fast moving kids but great if they're sitting playing.

Found it and the Panorama mode I've been looking for, cheers :)

Evening :) good to see everyone out and about. I understand it's been a little wet...it's 38 degrees here - have taken a few shots ( wish I'd bought a proper underwater camera with me ....)

Another varied round of shots minnnt. Keep them coming! Hopefully will have my hands on this little beauty very soon when it comes back in stock Fuji refurb store. If can't hold out might need to grab from Currys. Nothing comes close in the sub 150 price point. Paired with a wireless SD card it should replace my phone camera for quick social sends etc.

Ugh, been hit with the "... this isn't quite an x10" feeling all day today. Have only used the camera to take that one photo and I know that we're just not going to "work".. as impressed as I am with the quality of the photo, I'm just not happy overall. Knew I should have just got what I wanted in the first place - a replacement x10!

Wonder if I can get even so much as a partial refund from Curry's? I doubt it :grumpy:

I have everything it came with, minus the clear plastic all the wee bits come in :( It was seeing that advertised that made me realise I wish I had gone for the x10 heh.

The camera is great - it just doesn't fit if you get me? Like the old Canon/Nikon debate - go and see what feels good in your hands! Serves me right for not checking out their display model first.

I'll give it a go! Reckon they'll be open today (it's a bank holiday, right?)?

Haha great! Will need to wait till the mother returns from work for a lift

Just gave them a quick phone - cause I ordered online and collected in store, it needs to be couriered back. Courier is free and arranged by them (y) Picked up tomorrow, should be with them by Wednesday and then a full refund. Their returns policy could do with being clearer though.. turns out not having the clear plastic the bits come in doesn't make a difference so the "must be in all original packaging" statement is a wee bit misleading!

They should take it back, my Dad has returned 3 different cameras to Currys because he couldn't get on with them. Just say you found it difficult to open it up.
X20's are coming down in price a bit more now........

Thankfully it'll be okay! Just glad I kept the internals, I'm in the awful habit of throwing them away!

Allan, the newness of the x20 was tempting but I don't think the upgrade is worth the extra money for my needs - the only thing I'd appreciate is the faster AF but, because I never struggled with the x10's, that alone just isn't worth it for me.

Can cancel the courier for the XF1 right up until tomorrow (I think - the cancel button is there!) if anyone is interested! :coffee:

Since some people moan about me posting so few shots, here are some that benefitted from being shot on the X-20 rather than the XF-1 (it's far better for close ups!) More in my gallery and the Gardening 2014 thread.
