The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you to you all :) I've been looking for a camera keep in my work bag for ages. Today I came across this thread... and ordered a fx1 :) :).
I'm a very happy girl :)

Probably the best £130 you'll spend on photography!

When I open the .RAF file in pse11, it changes the window so I only get "save image" as an option and not "save as". I then get a drop down menu but there is no JPEG choice, only an upper or lower case .dng

If you've done any layering, you might need to flatten the image to get JPEG save options.

Something a little different...

Small Camera's are ideal for taking such shots, I have gotten similar photos with my small Compacts. I have taken photos with the big DSLR like that also, but I must admit I tend not to do that now. You just never know who might be watching. I tend to take such photos now, only when the missus is driving ( honest  )

damianmkv,
That is one cracking image, alas on my screen it appears a little over exposed.
You have yes to “Edit My Images.” ticked, so I have taken the liberty of running an auto edit in ACR.

Have you accidentally knocked the exposure compensation up.
Or is it just a case of too much sky and concrete, fooling the camera.

Again, you have a great eye for graphics.

It is a little, yes. I was trying to get the contrast between the black of the scooter and a summer's day so it was a deliberate thing

I really need to learn how to edit

damianmkv,

If you mean by “edit” you mean ACR editing jpegs.

Then assuming PSE11 is similar to PS in the way preferences are applied.
You need to go to edit-preferences-Camera Raw Preferences, then at the bottom of the panel where it says jpeg and TIFF Handling, set both to ”Automatically open all supported jpegs/TIFFs”.

Then when you open a RAW,TIFF or jpeg in PSE11, it will open first in ACR.

thanks, Rhodese. By edit i mean anything more than the very very basics. After a bit of cloning or contrast or sharpening, I'm done :(

Anyone know the max shutter life of an X10, I've been looking at one with around 8k and wondered if it's a bit on the high side?

I *really* like the monochrome red filter preset on this camera:

Added some sharpening in Nik Efex, and used DFine2 to take some noise out but otherwise, it's au naturel...

Ordered myself an fx1 yesterday from the refurb store. Figured for that price I'd give it a go

Whilst researching the X10, in view of buying one, if I remember correctly c200,000 cycles was quoted as the expected shutter life. (I don’t know where I read it though.)

I think most digital cameras are quoted as in excess of 150,000 cycles.

So it has a fair few clicks left.

On another note I read somewhere about early X10 cameras having a lens dust issue and something about white orbs, anyone know anything further and what to look for?

Contemplating picking an XF-1 up today from Curry's / PC World @£129

Just do it :)

Bang for buck, and bang per square inch it's hard to beat, and it looks great. Tbh, if they had the option of switching it on/off "normally" it's be about perfect (although I do understand why they didn't do that)

Go to page one of this thread and click on the old “X10” link, there you will find everything you need to know about the little “X”.

Popped in at lunchtime but they didn't have any in stock.

Ordered online (black plus the case for £149) for delivery tomorrow :)

I just need to think where I've got some SD cards now.

Damn the internet! I've just joined the site looking for some opinion to help me decide between a couple of bridge cameras I'd finally managed to narrow my choice down to... then saw this thread and bought an XF1.

Btw, if anyone wants an official black case I will probably stick mine in classifieds soon.. The neoprene one suits me better

Picked mine up today, wow :) it reminds me of the Olympus trip camera s I have. Can't wait to take it out and have a proper play.

Should this thread not be renamed the xf-1 for £129 thread?
It's an absolute no brainer for that money. Had to fork out £8 from eBay for a very nice leather case.
