The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

Thats a real nice set Kev,love the colours!

Thank you, I am surprised at colours as well. Did not have to do much in LR compared to when I use my D90.

I found this too. I was shooting raw but everyone else here raves about the Jpegs so I switched and I don't think they're as good. I love the files from it, there's something about them.

I use an X2O, used an X10 first, after a little while and reading all the posts in the old little X thread (There's a link on page one of this thread.), it be apparent that its not worth the extra work shooting RAWs, the jpegs straight out of the camera where as good as I could produce in ACR.

Used to have an X10 but did not like having no info in the optical view finder, read mixed reports on how good the info display is on the X20 - any one like to comment how they find it in sunny/dark light. Thanks

The X20 does show more in the OVF than the X10 did (does) and it is easier to see there than on the rear screen. The X20's OVF does lack the level (which is my biggest gripe against it) though. In some situations the information in the OVF can get lost against the background but it's nor a real problem IMO.

I am still learning so I prefer to use raw in case I want to correct the WB etc.

I'm going to switch back to RAW, although importing the smaller files was a tad quicker.

Sorry, what type of sd card do you use? I have a class 4 one and it seems a bit slow saving the photos on to the card on the camera when I take a pic.

Thanks

Kev, David take both, set the camera to take RAW and JPEG simultaneously.

Kev, I use 8 gig 30MB/s class 10, Sandisk Extreme, £8.99 from Premier Ink.
They do the 8 gig class 10, 80MB/s for £13.99 and the 8 gig class10, 95MB/s EXTREME PRO for £17.99.

Rhodese.

Oh I forgot, Kev you can adjust the WB on jpegs and tiffs in ACR. (y)

I use the same as Rhodese, 8gb 30mb/s class 10 Sandisk. Seems to write ok and is instantly ready to take another shot.

The files are nicer than the files from my D7000 but the Nikons files can take alot more manipulation.

Thank you Rhodese and David. I do have the camera set to RAW + JPEG and will use one of my card that I use with my d90 as I have a 16gb and 8gb 30mb/s ones.

Thank you.

Sad day for me today... I no longer own an X20! It's been given to my daughter to make the most of now that I've 'upgraded' to the X-Pro1.

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the tips, laughs and inspiration I've had from everyone right since the start of the original X10 thread! :)

Different tools, Si! That's how I justify an X-20, 2x XF-1 and an X-Pro1 system to myself - they all serve slightly different purposes (apart from the duplicated XF-1; that's so I can keep one in my car [and the leather matches the car's upholstery!])

Is it true Gok Wan gets his fashion tips from you Nod? :D

Could well be!

David,

Wow these are great, number 2 is fav, nice composition with the leading lines.

I love my X10 and would never part with it, only to get an X20 maybe? It goes everywhere with me.

Thanks Kev, I was suitably impressed with the results. These were took whilst i was without a dslr as i was moving over from Sony to Nikon, but tbh, i doubt i could have attained better results with one. The Panorama takes a little practice, but it's pretty good when you get one right.

Wow another great image. I need to learn the normal modes before I try the pano.

Just checked my sd cards at home and they are 8gb 15mb/s ones so will have to get the faster 45mb/s ones.

Have spent a bit this month so have put a wanted thread in case I can save a few pennies...

Thanks, prefer the sandisk ones.

Just prefer them.

I'm using Samsung class 10 in my X10 and 550D, really well made cards.

I have a few class 10 micro sd card, will the work at the correct speed if use with a SD card adaptor?

Thank you

taking a Samsung 16gb class 10 micro sd card as an example specs say it can write up to 13mb/s which sounds pretty slow but I am no expert on these matters... I would have thought personally though the XF1 would not benefit from super dooper speedy card but again no expert.

?!?!?!

I thought faster cards were more for videos than stills? Iirc, the files from the xf1 are around 12mb when shooting raw? So a write speed of 13mb/s should be fine. The usual stated speed on cards are for read speeds rather than write speeds I think.

13mbs is the write speed on the card I examples, 24mbs was the read..

stills are important, you shoot continuous with a small buffer and a slow card, it can be painful.

Thanks, would using the micro sd to sd adapter slow down the card or should they work at the correct speed.

interesting thought, I would doubt it, of course you have different build quality adapters that might affect things, and you open yourself to another chain of contacts..

just trying it is going to be the best way to know.

Will give it a go during the weekend. Thank you all for the help.
