0 on the 20 and 10, STD on the XF. And yes, the originals were all Large, Fine JPEGs in 3:2 aspect ratio. Not sure if the gallery keeps EXIF intact but I didn't strip it myself!

Can't wait for my x20 to arrive next week.. Hopefully it's going to rekindle my interest in photography since selling the 5dmk2.

Although I've just read lr3 doesn't support the raw files :facepalm:

The free Adobe DNG converter does then you can work in anything (as does the supplied silverpix if you can put up with its oddities)

You can also view the RAF file directly in Irfan View. which is great for preselecting.

Good stuff. I've got a wanted ad for a cheap copy of LR 4 or 5 but I might just stump up the 57 quid for an upgrade to 5 after Xmas (or just ask for it for Xmas..)

That's interesting! I see a slightly more yellow colour in both the X20 AND the XF-1 than the X10... which defies all common sense since the X10 and XF-1 share the same sensor!

You would only know if that was true, if you were not using auto white balance. As even slight differences in field of view and lens can make a difference to WB. Even then there are always slight differences between identical cameras.

All shot using AWB and flash. Side lit with a dying fluorescent lamp which was almost flickering so could have been emitting different colour temps for each shot (although I would have expected the flash to have killed all the ambient at 4' range!) As far as possible, all the settings in the cameras were kept the same, although the slightly different options in the XF may have caused the difference.
 
Guys, any tips on shooting in bright sunny day with aperture wide open? i always get overexposed picture with 1/1000 shutter speed..

That's a common problem when using aperture priority, and why I prefer to use P unless I have a creative need to take control of aperture or shutter speed. For 'normal' shots, P works really well.

Like Duncan, I'm a big fan of P mode for most occasions and it's easy enough to migrate away from the suggested settings to get the shutter speed or aperture you want for a specific shot if you disagree with the camera's choice. Easy enough on the X-10 (and 20) to dial in a bit of exposure compensation if needs be.
 
I am thinking about buying an X10. My compact experience so far has been limited to the Lumix LX7. Will I lose out from jumping over to the X10?

You will have the knowledge that if anything does go wrong with it then Fuji will at least fix it, unlike DR and your LX7.
 
X20 arrived in the post this morning. really impressed with the styling and build in real life.. everyone in the office really loves the classic styling.

just need to grab a SD card at lunch :)
 
Nigel, having seen your other presentations I don’t think this process does your work any favours, for me it’s just too garish. Others may love it.

I like it Nigel, the mountain stands out well and the colours not overdone as with some HDR emulations, I like the clouds just catching the peak but for me the tree line could be just a tadge brighter.
 
I took my X10 on my trip to the big city on Monday, went to the National Portrait gallery for the first time. The day was wet and overcast but I had a walk around Trafalgar Square and saw the ginormous cockerel on the spare plinth. Didn't manage to get the reflection shot I wanted but was very pleased with the little camera's performance.

HDR does seem to split opinions, and it's definitely down to personal taste. This one was an experiment with Snapseed using a single JPG, and is overcooked when compared some of the others I've done using Luminance and 3 exposures. I could probably make it a little more natural looking with a few (less) tweaks, but I was impressed by the free Snapseed filter which makes an otherwise flat and uninspiring image "pop".

Really like that last image Farmerjim, nice composition and works brilliantly in B&W.

I’ve been trying to create something foe the TP Christmas card, but as they say here in the Black Country, “I eer got it” the imagination that is. My imagination is like the weather flat and dull.

is anyone using a different case for their x10/x20 other than the normal leather jobby? dont really like having it flapped open or having to take the whole thing apart to get to the slots/connectors is a PITA.
 
I downloaded the magazine app to my Nexus 5, and it's awful, completely unreadable, doesn't scale to the screen. This online one seems to work OK though.

HI all ,

can I ask a possibly daft question about the x10 / x20 please ?

Having seen the images in here I'm leaning towards one of these compacts as an alternative to lugging the dslr kit about when out on the bike . My choices are either the sony rx100 or fuji x10/20 . The fuji has the lead ( probably) but wondering what 12pm is like for printing at say A3 or poster size if shooting RAW ?

Lynne, I shoot JPEGs on my X-20 and print SOOC at A3. Looks fine at normal viewing distance. I also have some 24" wide panoramas printed and on the walls.

Hi, I've made A3+ size prints from RAW shots taken on my X20 and quality wise they are very good indeed and would comfortably stand printing larger.

Personally, I've only printed the X10 to A3+ (including one from ISO 800), and it looked great.

I agree whole heartedly with his closing comment...
With this proof now in hand, I stand by my assertion that images shot with the X10 and comparable compact cameras are indeed good enough for professional reproduction as needed. Does this mean I’ll give my up my DSLR? Of course not, but I now have even more confidence that when I do want to travel light and leave the big camera behind, I can still shoot images that I’m comfortable sending to clients.

Just had a quick peek at the link Duncan posted to see whether the photographer bothered with raw for the shot - it seems that he didn't. I too agree with his comments, the baby X cameras won't replace my DSLRs but they do get taken out when I can't be bothered to drag 20lbs of kit on my back!
 
Intending to buy a Fuji x20 in the next month or so
this sounds like daft question !
Is it possible to use the sweep panorama mode in vertical mode rather than left to right ?
