I'll let you play with my Fuji flash at some point. Came as part of the 2nd hand bundle with the X-10. TTL makes life easier! Trying to source an off camera lead for Fuji - not tried very hard yet but could do with one to get the flash the far side of the glass I'm shooting through. Even with a rubber hood pressed against the glass, there's a bit too much internal bouncing between the glazing layers... (Sorry, that's more an HS-30 problem but still Fuji!)

Can you still get those flash leads that were generic, with a 'hotshoe' style attachment on either end, one that pushes onto camera mount, the other on the flash? I recall having one years ago, long lost through several house moves, but that might be the answer if such a thing still exists?

Thankyou, I was quite please with them generally, but the 'hot' areas on faces created bu the flash was a problem. However its the old thing of exposing for the highlights and pulling the shadows back. ;)

Pretty sure you can but I'm a lazy booger and like the easy solution - and TTL would make life a lot easier! I want it so I can put the flash outside the window I'm shooting through to illuminate the birds a bit better. Later in the year, there'll be much more natural light so flash won't be needed (and sitting outside will be more comfortable!) but it's still a bit chilly in the mornings and I'm a soft southern wuss!

Nigelwill, that first one is a stunner. Personally, I feel the high lights at the foot of the bench and on the edge of the street sign are a distraction, but that’s just nit picking. :thumbs:

Yvonne, these are as good as it gets, it just shows what this little camera is capable of, when in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. Those whites, those blacks, I think this set is as good as any in this forum. Hows that for a bit of brown noseing. :lol:

Yes, they do distract from the rest of the silhouetted scene. I think the ones in the middle are a group trying to light a barbecue, the other is a stainless steel plinth (woefully out of date) explaining the buildings on the skyline. Might try and tone down those highlights in PS.

I have another from the set, bit warmer colours and a slightly different perspective (standing rather than crouching).

Got to say I prefer the original perspective, its the combination of figures all obviously doing stuff and the skyline that make it so awesome, the higher perspective loses it by the fact you can only really see heads, which looks a bit odd.

That first version - frame it, stick it on a wall, it really is that good IMO :thumbs:

Ive just discovered that with the focus selector in either AF-C or MF the camera behaves exactly as it does in AF-S. Its as though the switch is having no effect.

Is it possible Ive set something in Menu that may affect the operation? Or is this a job for the Fuji service centre.

Finally got a response from Fuji on my issue with AEB limited to 1/4 second exposures. When I use bracketing for HDR work, I get 3 identical images all exposed at 1/4 second which is frankly useless. Turn the bracketing off, and the camera exposes correctly.

"We have checked your images and they do appear to be identical. We have tested the feature on a X10 model here and can confirm that there is a subtle difference between the 3 images. We confirm that 1/4 sec is the slowest speed available in this mode.

Please try resetting the camera via the setup menu and try the bracketing again. If there is still no difference we will need to inspect the camera. In this case please click on the following link to register the camera for repair."

Not sure if they are acknowledging the problem, or hinting that maybe my model has a problem?

Thanks, I did change it slightly to make it more green so it'd look evil... I think it works :-)

Well they are called common lizards but they are very hard to spot! This one was only about 10cm long, and they are very quick too!

I've seen various other reptiles in cornwall including an escaped corn snake so keep an eye out on hot days around the hedgerows and rocks where they will be sunning themselves and you might get lucky :)
