I've just tried the Save Org Image thing and it's not as I'd expected. Didn't appear to work except on the 360° one, and then it only seemed to save the one that keeps going round in a circle and the same thing stretched out.

That is what I found ... It just saves the unjoined 360.
What is needed is to save the individual exposures. But I suspect that only multiple "Slices" of an exposure are ever taken. Not the whole frame as in conventional pans. If this is true it would explain the multiple repeat of the Blue orbs.
Such artifacts can be a problem in conventional stitches but there are never so many of them.
I suspect the software is seeing a repeated slit with a lighter sky edge one side than the other, and having only a rudimentary blender can not smooth them out. so shows a repeated light dark pattern that is lightly smoothed that looks something like orbs.

I suspect changing the speed of the sweep (a little faster) might improve things, as the slices should be fewer and wider.

Camera makers never discuss "How things work" so we are stuck with guesses and trial and error.

That's my take on it.

You can see the slices when you get it wrong along a straight edge which turns jagged. Or there's something moving - like this red pickup.

So I may be sweeping too slow. I am going to try faster sweeping in future and see if my pano's improve.
 
Well comparing our "slice" sizes I can see that Dave. Will try the faster method next weekend if the weather is kind and the light sweet.
 
Just been reading the Talk Equipment section and realise just how lucky we X10 owners are.
No need to worry about your next lens or be concerned about the need to spend a ton of money on a carbon fibre tripod to support the weight of your camera and huge lens.
No nights spent worrying if the next model up in your current range will give you better images or where to buy the best remote control unit.
No need to worry if you will actually be able to carry the bag to hold all your gear or if you dont want to carry all your gear today, which lens to take out with you......

Then there are so many choices of flash units, different size lens hoods, extenders, adapters, sensor cleaning and even more camera bags.

Meanwhile, if I decide to take my camera out, its X10 in pocket, door/car key, sorted.

that reminds me - I don't remember where - but I was watching some documentary about cameras and Fuji were interviewed and they are talking about potentially building a small DSLR (but with a full like for like 35mm digital film). The drive of users is to go smaller and more convenient in certain parts of the world (big call for it in Japan/UK) but NOT in the good ol' US of A. US has big market crunch of Fuji business and building different models is too expensive so they are currently :thinking: of where Fuji should head.

you can get brand new for £275 if you prefer using the warranty repair upgrade trick :)
 
I bought a Fuji UK X10 'refurb' last week for £261.92 including next day delivery.

A brand new, sealed in the bag X10 was delivered serial number 22****. Not a mark and packed in a brand new X10 box with no 'refurbished' stickers.

Superb little camera with no orb issues and with the latest firmware. Excellent.

That would hardly qualify as a warranty repair upgrade trick, or would it? I'm still very curious about this trick mentioned...
 
Sorry I thought you were looking for the refurbished one. I think the trick referred to here is to buy refurbished then ask for a repair for the orbs sensor issue, Fuji then send you a new one. But I might have got all this wrong

They're happy to replace the sensor. But very very few people have the camera replaced.

At that price it is almost worth getting a spare :D

I have looked (honest) but can't find the Fuji link for sensor replacements. Am going to get around to doing it one of these days and thought I'd get the box sitting ready for when I know I won't need it for a week or so. Please can someone post it here for me?

I hadn't noticed this in any of mine, until yesterday when I had a massive coloured flare in one of mine. Given that it is taken directly into the sun, I can see why it has happened and the explanation given above seems to fit. It doesn't worry me overly as these are just for fun but I will try the 'pan more quickly' advice to see if that helps any future panos.

Thanks for the code mini0ne, I've a feeling that I'll be ordering one tonight now :) That's even cheaper than second hand off fleabay!

I enjoy using the D300 but the convenience and quality of the X10 is just too good to ignore. Love the style of it too.

Those of you that have bought one.

Could you describe the condition you received your X10 in.

What is acceptable or unacceptable to you condition wise?

I kept putting it off and putting it off but I finally put my x10 in for sensor replacement today. I'm missing it already :(

Someone help!
 
P mode, macro, iso 100, which took it at f4.0 1/750sec, vivid colour, DR100.
I just took a quick shot only checking that I was in macro !
It does take great shots this wee camera !

ive just received my refurb its indistinguishable from new all the accessories are also new

box has a sticker saying refurbished otherwise you would not know :)

you can always do the repair trick if you want proper new but i chose to use the £20 to buy a couple of battery's and a two part faux leather case from ebay instead :)

As brand new as a very brand new thing. Camera in plastic bag sealed with Fuji sticker, all accessories sealed and box unmarked.

Very happy and camera a delight to use.

Mine looked like new but was in a referb box.
