Why were you thinking of selling?

I'm interested as I have felt this way many a time but at the last moment thought I'd hang on a bit longer.

The quick menu will be great.

I tried the Quick menu on a couple of cameras in Jessops (X-Pro 1 maybe?) and couldn't make it work. Maybe if I read up about it first it'll be better...

Meant to add... I'm not very keen on these fancy toy modes etc, so I'm wondering if this s a missable upgrade...

If that is all the firmware update does, I will not be doing it.
I never use those sorts of filters, and I prefer a dedicated raw button.

Hmmm - I use the Quick menu on my 5DIII all the time, it's great!
However, one obvious difference between those screen shots and the 5DIII is that they don't seem to allow direct control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO along with the other less useful stuff.
Fingers crossed it will be useful and not just a gimmick.

Wonder if Fuji will add something to tell you which sensor is fitted :)

Worth reading up on. The quick menu on the X-Pro 1 is beyond awesome. On the X10 it would be very nice indeed.

Right guys, got this in my shopping cart and hovering over the checkout :)
Looking for a single kens solution as a little/light solution to my d90 and all its gear.....
This ok for video as well? Heard on some reviews saying it wasnt great but dunno what they are comparing it with.

Was thinking nikon 1, but images sound better from this, good build, single lens (i dont even want to think about even the option of buying more lenses :) ) seems to have a lot going for it anyway. Nikon 1 seems overpriced imo, this atleast seems like you get something for your cash that a fifty quid camera cant do?

For iso around 1600-3200, this still reasonable? Its a d90 i have so not the best iso nowadays but does me and i know its limits, just the last compact i had the iso was really bad even next ti the cheapest slr.

Focus fastish too by the sounds? Again with slr we take this for granted. I use centre point recompose, so dont care about 52 focus points or whatever, as long as the centre is fairly quick (kids for me)

What about shallow depth of field? Hear it has a few tricks in software to do this(not ideal but might do the job sort of) but otherwise am i looking at full zoom and subject 4 miles from background to get any sort of separation or am i looking at old school compacts still and things have changed a bit?

Cheers
Sorry for ropey typing am on the app version.

Any compact is going to struggle with 1600-3200.

Cheers, video seems ok will prob do me to be honest.
Yeah i dont go much above 1600 on the d90, but was hoping it might be ok at least near this.
My last compact was a canon g7 about 4 years ago, loved it, but it was the first thing i noticed a massive difference in when i moved to dslr. (as you would) (not expecting the x10 to be a little slr, dont get me wrong, just hoping it was ok at say 1600)
Thanks

I'm still not happy with the video at all. My camera phone has much much better resolution.

That right dean. One of those things i would like to try out for a few days see if i like it :) not possible though, can do a play in the shop, but not the same getting it home is it....
Hmmmm

Best compact I've ever owned. It's not a market leader, but at the price nothing compares. On top of this it is a joy to own and use.

Cool, well thats encouraging anyway, thanks...
Just looking for a light solution for taking pics of the girls without lugging all my gear about, but something that lets me still be a little bit creative/controlled. Something with a non detachable lens that keeps me back from classifieds on here ;)

Planning keeping d90 for mostly indoor and low light (and bigger events etc), just dont want too much of a shocker, really be mainly used during daylight. Plus double up as a half decent video solution as i am also away to get rid of my iphone lol

Ive been debating this camera but the RX100 always comes up, its samller and has a much larger sensor, downside is slower lens at the long end and higher price. Guess its down to budget. Have you considered something like the GF3?

I know, the sensor makes that camera....spent most of the morning looking at that as well...
Rx100, although not that much smaller than the x10, it almost looks too small if you know what i mean....Just seems tiny, wonder if too fidgety after a while?
First time i looked at compacts for a few tears and handled some the other day, quality looked great in a lot these days, was pleasantly surprised....

Sorry, yeah did look at gf3, but just trying to stick to one lens solution....in a month i will want the pancake lens instead...then a longer zoom etc... ;) i find it too easy :)

Sounds like youve found your camera, check out the Fuji XF1 thats coming though.

Saw that as well :) always something better around the corner in this game :) looks very nice though
Thing is, its a second camera so i need to keep it in perspective - if it does even 80% of what i need it for, it will be fine...
X10 should for a year or 2 hopefully

Many of us on here bought from the Fuji refurb shop with 10% discount code and last time I looked that got it down to £270. Cheaper than the RX100?

That worried me as well, we take slr (even entry level)for granted at times and the physics it brings to the table with lens options, large sensors, good iso, any lens you want its there (ok, cost ruins that analogy maybe :) ), its a lot to miss. Of course the physics means size.

Originally, i was thinking maybe 4/3rds, getting rid of slr and buying om-d (still o/priced imvho) or something, but again, i'm then looking for something that does it all, which isnt possible (with my budget)....4/3rds be just asking to buy into lens systems for me anyway.

Was thinking even d90 with my cheapo 35 1.8, i absolutely love that simple setup for so many things, the quality i get for the price its just superb (what, 400 quid all in, not bad??) i just know i'd want it back again...hence, cheaper compact and keep cheaper slr route...:)

Its a tricky tradeoff thats for sure....and manufacturers know it of course

Whats the view on the little x10 built in flash then? Just be using for a bit of fill mainly i would think...
Anyone got much to say on that inbuilt blur option? Reliable?

The little flash is better than I thought it would be. It is fine in a normal sized room. Mostly it just balances the available light so shutter speeds can get quite slow.
However you can set a higher shutter speed in S mode this might under expose the available light, but the camera works out and sets the flash exposure separately so all is well.

You can even set the shutter speed and aperture in M mode and the flash will still do its stuff using the set aperture. This is not a bad way to do it during dancing at a party, where movement can be an issue.

Ordering mine in the morning, will get it for £236 from Tesco with my discount, really looking forward to getting my paws on it!

Bet he had a £100 Tesco voucher for his birthday so he's really paying £336 :D
Staff at Tesco Bank so I get a staff discount and there is a £30 of voucher kicking around for electrical goods on Tesco Direct. And i had to pay £246 as the base price jumped up to £10 overnight :(

Still a great price to pay as some on here paid nearer £500 a round a year ago. Just bought my Wife a Panasonic TZ30 after rebate was £235 and it's alright, yes it's alright but........ Oh yes it has a really high zoom 20x and even more at lower res but....... but........but..........

Picked the x10 up earlier, nice little camera...give it a proper test tomorrow in daylight ;)
Think panoramic mode might be fun. Just doing some kitchen panoramas - i certainly know how to enjoy my friday nights lol :)
Funny how slr seems so easy to operate now, take bad with the small size, but thats what i got it for, will adjust to it easy no doubt....all seems good

Craig, for yur panos try selecting a vertical pano then turning the camera sideways for the sweep. You get better resolution that way! Good luck and enjoy the X10...

That's a great idea. Seems obvious when you say it.
