The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

Has anyone actually gone for the official Fuji leather case for the X10?
I'm only asking because a little bird told me that I might be getting one for my birthday from the mother-in-law.
Not sure whether to step in and suggest a cheaper one if it's not worth the extra cost over the ebay cases.

Yeah, I've got the official one for the X10 and X100. I can't recommend it highly enough, as long as you don't want to add extras like filters, hood etc because it won't close. But then again, no snug fitting case will.

Really good quality and perfect fit around the camera.

I might just gracefully accept the gift then, cheers.

Official case is really nice however I don't actually use it a lot as the camera seems safe enough tossed in a bag.

I'm very tempted to buy one next week. What kind of sync speeds have people been getting with RF-602's?

Does anyone use a screen protector ?

Yes but only a soft plastic one it stops marks and scratches.
If a tough glass one goes it can cause as much damage as not having one.

Does anyone use a screen protector ?

I've tried the cheap thin plastic ones and used three from a pack of six before it went on straight - well as straight as I could get. When I took it off to send back for sensor change the residue left was very very hard to get off.

Never used one on any camera and never got any scratch or scuff marks so none on at the moment but

I use a 3" GGS glass screen protector. Perfect fit and only a few £'s
I got mine from Amazon, probably HERE.

I had the X100, hated it, went for the X10 and im in love, although dont seem to use it much.

Couple from the week end.
X10 is not really the first choice of camera for action but works well enough.

If I buy a used one with an affected serial number will Fuji still replace the shutter?

Here's a few from my walk into the mountains at sunset for TP Day last weekend.

I bivvied overnight and the star shots taken with the big cameras were quite special; I want to take more like this!
Here's a link to the rest of them.

I guess you mean replace the sensor to fix the orb problem. Probably, yes, but you would have to contact them to make sure.

and I'll add....
I don't think any of us had to produce evidence of purchase or warranty when we got our sensors replaced.
Just rang them up and quoted the serial number.
Fuji took it from there.

Duncan the shots you put up from TP day are exactly my types of photographs & are superb. Don't get arrogant & big headed with the praise though  (Only joking with last second sentence

Thanks guys, I'll ask them to be sure.

LOL - thanks!
You have no idea how many rubbish shots I deleted to get those four.
I'm not as fit as I used to be and carrying a huge heavy rucksack up a big mountain meant the camera was an excuse to stop and catch my breath.
Combine frequent breaks with a lack of oxygen (my legs were burning it all), and I took countless repetitive, dull, boring images that have gone straight in the bin.
I imagine you'd get a similar result giving an X10 to a Goldfish swimming around a decorated bowl; Every 10 seconds "Oooo look, a castle!" - click...

Do have a look at the star shots - I'm well chuffed with them.
I didn't try using the X10 on the star shots and I've been wondering how it would have got on.
One of the X10 oddities is that you can only do 30s exposures at ISO 100, so even f2.0 would be a struggle.
But on the other hand, the X10 pulls detail out the shadows incredibly well and it might just work.
Next time I'm out photographing the Milky Way I'll try and remember to give the X10 a whizz.

I admire your honesty and openness it makes me feel a lot better about my One keeper and how many hundreds in the bin :lol::lol:

Hi, been reading this forum for a while now, and quite new to my X10. But while taking some flash shots at a party i found some of the results blurry, prob due to the slow shutter speed the x10 chose. 1/20 @ f2.0. Now the conditions were darkish (nightclub around 10ish) and i put the camera in EXR mode. Its as if the camera was taking a low light shot without the flash.
So my question is this. What is the best mode to put the X10 in whilst using flash? Shutter priority?
And no, i wasnt drunk.

It works fine when drunk ;)

You need to change the image stabilisation to Continuous + Motion, default is just Continuous which allows longer shutter speeds to cope with bad light and is too long for social situations.

The other trick is to force the ISO up to 6400 or 12800. Results are fine for Web use.

Looking at getting an x10, the fuji refurb price is £299.99, amazon have a brand new one for £333, is it worth the saving to get a refurb one? or would i be better off with a brand new unit? Do the refurbs have the replacement shutter to fix orbs?

You will still need to send back to fuji for the sensor replacement for a refurb one, mine took around 7 days.

If you use code P258BTCC467 In the voucher code on the fuji shop refurbished you will get for 269.99 plus delivery.

£299 is an amazing price!
We will soon be getting down to 50% of what I paid for mine 11 months ago.
It's a steal...

What are you guy's "walkabout" settings?
LOL - depends on what you are taking...
Nightlife in Oxford I'll take whatever I can get with enough quality to potentially use for blackmail :naughty:
Landscapes I'll settle for nothing less than the ability to print to A3.

What are you walking about?

I suppose I kind of know what the settings do on the x10 but not much idea of when to use them :bonk: I don't really know how to get the "best" from the camera.

Took this using my brothers X10, square format set to Velvia.

Won't be long before I'll be an X10 owner :D

Do the refurbs not already have the sensor replaced? I'd be amazed if they didn't.

that code definately makes the refurb alot more tempting.

Plus you get a hefty discount off cases wen you buy a refurb.

Pretty disappointed with Fuji, rang, nobody picks up, rang again, on hold for ages then finally someone picks up put on hold again as nobody can answer the sensor question, chap says he'll ring back soon, that was yesterday afternoon. Was ready to order but now cant be bothered.

Just ordered my refurbished X10. :)

You've done the right thing Dean.

I have got mine back from Fuji.

It seems to be underexposing fairly often. Has any noticed any metering issues since they have had a new sensor fitted?

Not at all, in fact I usually dial in - 1/3 stop or more. as I prefer strong shadows to burnt highlights.
